i use mega cartos when im out and about. You dont really ever have to worry about them leaking no matter which way it is in your pocket. Easy as anything to fill with dripping alone and holds ~4.5ml of juice.
The kicker is that they are less than $3 and I pair it with my x6 1300mah so if i lose or break it im only out < $20 instead of $50+... on two occasions i gave my cartos away to fellow vapers that also found it much easier (one was using an evod and one had a t3s)

You may even want to consider a bottom feeder like a vmod, bogger box, or REO, and never have to fill a tank, carto, or carto tank again.
This. Absolutely the easiest, most hassle free way to vape. A full tank in a Protank or Davide lasts me two weeks with no intervention.
I've enjoyed my new starter eGo so much I've been analog free almost 2 wks now. No craving for my cancer sticks. Since being free of cigs (smoked 27 yrs) I don't care what or how long it takes to fill protank. It's a big deal for me (Bless his heart LOL). I actually enjoy choosing my flavor from juice case - a clear nuts/bolts storage case from Home Depot and any gadetry that is the vape setup.
I recently switched to protank mini which couldn't get easier to refill. My three week 2.0 ohm coil was still going strong when I switched to 1.8 last night. The authentic Kanger brand coils are $10-$15 online for a 5pk and mine have had a long life so far. That tank rinses out easily and quickly. Stick needle tip in tank, fill, and screw back on.

The T4/mini-tank is the clearo I've been using and I think it's very good. My only issues with them (besides having to tilt them to wet the wicks, but that becomes second nature quickly) is occasional "spitting" or getting a drop of juice/condensation in the mouth. Certain juices (e.g., Halo's Voodoo) seem to gum them up quickly but at least they're easy to clean. No leaking issues so far but I am concerned about the possibility of the press-fit mouthpiece popping off while I'm carrying it in my bag or my pocket. I've got some e-Smart clearos on order to try next. They appear similar to the T4 but hold a little more juice, MAY have longer wicks (depending on which picture is correct) and have a screw-in mouthpiece. I'd also like to try the M3 clearo.
As for carto tanks, I don't picture myself using them as long as I'm in 808-land but I won't rule them out for the future. As for REOs, VMods, etc. I really dig the concept but not the appearance or the price (I'm not cheap by nature, just on a tight budget out of necessity).
I recommend Kanger Pro tank, and EVOD BCCs.
If you really have an issue about not wanting to take something too big out of the house (both are small IMO), then the EVOD BCC should be perfect for you. It isn't much bigger than a carto.
These may work for you, they hold up to 5 mils so, a lot less filling and, they are less obvious than a tank.

I'm at kind of a difficult point in my vaping journey, though, where I've already invested in a lot of 808-threaded batteries and heads and I'd like to get some more use out of them before I change to a different system - but I also don't want to buy TOO much 808 stuff lest I be married to it even longer.
Those Smileomizers look really cool. I'd definitely buy one if it came with a smaller mouthpiece; the big cigar-sized mouthpiece isn't something I'd enjoy using.

I've gotta say, even though they're a pain to fill compared to clearos, my cartomizers (especially the low-resistance ones) do something to the flavor of certain juices that I really like. It's almost like they emphasize the better flavor notes, suppress the yucky ones and even add a little throat hit. Case in point: I don't enjoy Tribeca at all if it's in a clearo (unless mixed with other juices) but I find it delightful in a LR carto. It's a huge difference in flavor to me, almost like two different juices.
Or maybe I'm just trippin'. I dunno.

No, you're not trippin'. I only have one juice I really like and I currently have it in a Protank, carto tank 2.2Ω, a carto 1.8Ω on a BF and a dripping atty 1.5Ω on a BF. I rotate them every puff or two and they taste just different enough to almost be separate flavors.

mostly why I didn't go for 808s but was also the main reason I wanted one lol. Those smileomizers work amazing, friend of mine has one let me try it, I might still get one for around the house. Just not high up on the list As an aside, my Kanger E-smart just arrived and it is one sleek-looking e-cig! Been using it for a few minutes and I really like it so far. The clearos that came with it seem very nice. I'll post a review after I've lived with it for a few days.
I'm just finishing up my first carto-free workday (thanks to these fantastic E-smart clearos) and I'm loving it. I think this might be the solution. Now I just need to decide if I should look for some leak-proof, needle-tip 3ml bottles for refilling or just buy a bunch of clearos and fill them up before I leave the house.
I use IBTanked's "Thingy", which comes with all their tanks. Put the carto into the tank, fill the tank with juice, put the tank in the "thingy" and twist the cap open/closed about 20-25 times (a twist is about a half-turn of the cap). Your carto will be perfectly primed and the tank is ready to use. Simplest, quickest method I've used yet.
Refilling tanks is very easy with their drip tip/filler tool also - attach it to the top, push the carto about halfway down the tank (or lift the tank up, whichever way you're doing it), pour your juice in, push the carto back up into position - done. You don't have to worry about tilting the tank/bottle to avoid pouring into the carto because the tool is attached and keeps it closed off.
I had used Smoktech Pyrex DCT tanks and their filling tool prior to purchasing my IBTs. I found carto priming to be a hassle and filling the tank wasn't much better (their tool clogs up due to air bubbles and I overflowed liquid several times). Using the IBTanked setup has made it almost as easy as using a clearo. The "Thingy" is much quicker, easier and cleaner than dripping, syringes or the "reverse condom" method, IMO.
WOW, Im wondering if I should cut back my vaping.... I use a 5ml capacity vision victory on a vision spinner set to 4.1v and I go through a tank (5ml) of 24mg a day LOL..... ooops! How many ml does the protank hold again? I know I read somewhere but forgot.
Instead of 24mg, consider doing 18mg and vape as you usually do. I was shocked when I went through a 1.5 ml pro tank mini. Then found out how much others vape and felt better about it. I emptied a full 1.5 ml pro tank mini back into a small empty drip bottle and it's not much at all. Following that empty tank, I thought I'd drop the nic down to 18 and I can't tell the difference.
