Thanks Skrymr! Ive been a pack a day for 20 years. i absolutely have cut down with snus (probably about half a pack now) I know its progress, but i still HATE the fact i crave them(and smoke them) you know? Maybe im just expecting too much too soon!?:confused:
I would advise going over to the snuson forum and looking in on the beginners section.

SnusOn.com - Snus Forum :: View Forum - <br>Snus Newbies

The common wisdom over there, and there are some very experienced snusers who have helped hundreds of people transition from smoking to snus is... don't worry about it. Give it time. For some people it can take awhile to get off the cigarettes. It's very individual and there are a lot of issues involved. It can take some people many months to finally quit smoking. If you feel like having a smoke... go for it. Eventually snus will win out.

I quit fairly quickly after I started Swedish snus (not the american junk) but I still had cravings for a smoke for many months after. A few times I went into a type of panic attack where I really wanted a smoke. I quickly learned that the feeling passed within a short period of time. On a bad day I just added a few extra portions. Over time the cravings just got less and less.

Make sure you're getting enough nicotine. I don't know how much snus you're doing, but think about increasing the amount or strength to get you over the rough spots. This is a common approach that works for many people. Don't worry about increasing your nicotine tolerance. That really doesn't happen with snus. In the future it will be relatively easy to cut back down. For now it's more important to get enough nicotine to get you over the need for a smoke. The thought I had as I was going through the transition is that with smoking, I was always feeling that less is better, and that's true for cigarettes.

With snus it's different. Remember, snus is at least 98% less harmful then cigarettes. Do as much as you need to get over the need to smoke, even if it's more nicotine then you normally take in. Nicotine isn't the danger... it's inhaling smoke. Eventually your body will find a maintenance level for how much snus is enough, but that may take some time. Snus is good stuff and it will win in the end. Just give it some time to do it's work.

+1 to what Stubby said. I've been vapeing since January and snusing since late February... And I still hit the wall from time to time. Usually the cravings for a cig are stress induced for me, but even those are getting fewer and fewer over time. I still slip up and have a smoke from time to time, but I'm learning to be OK with that. I'm an addict and will probably never be tobacco free, so the best think I can hope for is to reduce the harm I do to myself.

For me, that means plenty of snus and e-liquid on hand at all times to make new habits easier than the old one. Since yesterday I'm even experimenting with snuff to see if that will help kill off the worst of the cravings. The process is different for everyone, but it sounds like you are on the right track. Try everything until you find what works for you. In the meantime the forum here is full of great advice and even better moral support!

Keep your chin up, your snus in, and have a great 37th year!

Happy birthday from me too Laguna :). And Stubby gives great advice, just stick with it, substitute whenever possible, maybe look into some higher nic snus....nothing I can add to what Stubby says. And SnusOn is full of former smokers and dippers who made a successful switch. Remember, it's more than switching one for another, it also changes the way we live our daily lives. Give it time, make a consious effort, enjoy every defeat over cravings and keep pluggin' along. Posting on the forum is also good. Puts us in touch with one another and the fellowship goes a long way. Enjoy your birthday.

Hi Laguna, I noticed that you do not mention using an e-cig. Maybe you are covering the chemical need with snus but not the physical part (going through the motions) of smoking.
First- again, i want to thank you all for your time as well as support. however, trying both the VG as well as the PG, they both make me feel loopy (panicky, absent minded, etc.) so i really try to limit how much i vape. Thanks though!
