I got my MFS order a couple days ago, which includes my 26g Kanthal and my Japanese cotton. I was so excited to build my first coil but now that it's time, I'm scared as sh**. I have an istick 30w so it can tell me my ohms, and I've been doing a lot of reading about it but it still makes me nervous. Im using a pre-built 0.5ohm coil but I think for my first one, I'll go for closer to a 1.2-1.5. Just curious if anyone else was really nervous to build the first one and your first build turned out. I'll update once I work up the courage to try. Any advise you can give is welcome and appreciated. Thank for reading :)

I wasn't nervous at all. I watched dozens of videos and read a lot of threads about how to build and felt pretty confident.
My first coil was crap though. Looked like some eff'd up barbed wire and came out at something above 3ohms.

There's nothing special about building a coil. Inform yourself on how to build and do it. At least when you have an ohmmeter or a mod that reads your resistance.

If you have a short they'll tell you. Look where it is and do something about it. Or rip the coil off and build another.
26g is really easy to build with. When I started wicking it was pretty common to use 32g. Tried to rebuild an old Kanger head last week with 32g and that's really a PITA nowadays. At least for me.

Nope.. Because I know the worst that would happen, is the coil would fail. And I would have to start over again. BUT, being safety conscious, I PERFECTED the 2ohm build before I even considered, more hazardous coils of, less than 1ohm..

Exactly why I'm going to try builds of higher ohms first. Even if my first build looks like crap, I'll be happy if it works. Lol

Terrified, utterly; swore up and down for a month or two that I would NEVER build coils. That lasted till I had successfully rebuilt my T3S and Mini PT II... then I got a Kayfun. Now rebuildables are all I use.

I think it's perfectly normal to be a little nervous about your first build. I was lucky, a friend of mine did a build on a IGO L and showed me in person how to do it. I ordered mine that day! I was just nervous I couldn't do it. I'm not very savvy with most things. But I did it! No problem. Now I love to experiment with exotic builds. My point is, if I can do it (and all I use now are RDA's) believe me, you can do it! Sounds like your doing your homework and being safe. Your already half way there! Much better start than other horror stories I've read. Have fun, and let us know how it goes.

That's where my worry comes in. I'm worried I won't be able to do it. I'm also not very savvy with DIY things. Every time I try, it turns out like something a 3 year old did. Lol. I just do not want to have to go purchase pre-built coils because I can't get mine to turn out right, meanwhile my wire and cotton is sitting in a drawer never to be used again. I guess I won't know until I try. Lol

Nothing difficult about wrapping a piece of wire around a drillbit. Start with a piece of wire about 6" long so you can handle it easily, have something to grab onto while you're mounting it. Also, run some kind of flame over the wire before you wrap it -- but not enough to melt the wire, just to make it less "sproingy". I just use a Bic lighter, though there are all kinds of 'spensive torches for that purpose. Try to put each wrap as close to the last one as you can, without overlapping -- it doesn't have to be perfect, because you can still get it tighter, once you mount it.

Once you get it mounted, you can dry-burn in order to squeeze it more tightly, if you want to, but NEVER EVER touch anything metal to the coil while you're pressing the fire button. Once your finger is off the button, while it's still very warm, you can squeeze it with tweezers or needle-nose pliers, but don't get carried away, it's kinda soft right after firing.
