***Apparently, I should add...It's my job to assist in the choosing of vape devises and accessories. I'm like, Hank Hill of E-juice. People come here to ask for help when they want to stop I'm not out harrassing smokers, just asking about your success stories & struggle tips. **

You sound like a nosy Nelly who has no business telling smokers what to do.

When I started with E-cigs and ECF years ago I had some mega threads going that address exactly that issue.. How to talk to smokers about kicking cigarettes and start vaping. We'd actually go on stop smoking forums and talk to people and staff. I have been partly responsible for getting several popular stop smoking forums to start vaping subforums to give their members more options. Sometimes people Need a nosy Nelly, they just don't know it yet.

I smoked. I vape. If anyone had come up to me to tell me what to do I’d say words that get censored here. Leave people alone. If smokers are of a mind to try vaping as a way to quit, they will find actual vapers to ask about it, not some know-it-all bossy britches.

Do the kids still say stay in your own lane?

@BrotherBob may likely have some useful links for you. I can speak generally though.

Ecigs do three things that previous smoking cessation systems did not do.
1: it does not attempt to substitute the hand/mouth/fiddling/situational addiction with either nothing or something vastly inferior. It simply replaces it. Furthermore it replaces it with something much less obnoxious. Vapor is not zero annoyance, but it’s stupendously lower. It can take a month or more of regular vaping in an area to make it persistently smell of vaping where a cigarette can do it in ten minutes.
This makes them a relatively easy changeover with minor immediate advantages.

2: It halts or dramatically slows organic damage. Cigarettes kill a person slowly and horribly. Ecigs don’t. They’re not (or have at least not been shown yet to be) totally harmless, but they’re multiple orders of magnitude less damaging than cigarettes. At their very worst e-cigarettes buy time.

3: ecigs are a lot easier to quit than cigarettes.
The data on protonated nic (“salts”) is out as it is for any of the above issues as well, a smoker of traditional or unprotonated nicotine tends to spontaneously reduce their nicotine concentration level more or less spontaneously, though quite slowly. So the general method is to try to get someone vaping exclusively and not smoking. After THAT habit is in place one can start to think about nicotine reduction. Unlike cigarettes this can be done through reducing the concentration of nicotine gradually over time. In some cases it proves to be impossible, but at the very least the dangers of cancer and emphysema and COPD and other diseases associated with cigarettes are vastly reduced.

Does, or at least will likely be treated that way, which amounts to the same thing. None the less people do what they do and she’s no more likely to stop doing something because you say so as you are to stop doing something because she says so.

She believes at least that she is in a position to disseminate non false information. I see no reason to keep her from doing it.

Your statement seems valuable though. It’s something she’s likely to run into.

Well there are so many in's and outs to the Mods, atomizers, sizes styles strengths it's a LOT to take in. If you want to help smokers, best thing you can do is emphasize the benefits of vaping over inhaling smoke. it's the smoke not the nicotine that kills. Lots of folks say in stop smoking forums will push the Nicodemon thing on you saying you have a nicotine monkey on your back so you have to stop Everything.. these people are just being tobacco nazis. Facts are Nicotine is a central nervous system stimulant and vascular constrictor but Caffeine from coffee is also exactly a central nervous system stimulant and vascular constrictor. If your healthy enough to drink coffee dr's say, you can vape. Have people look forward to breathing better, living longer and still getting to enjoy their nicotine without the harmful effects of the smoke.

Best wishes!

Welcome but unless someone asks about an alternative....I would not try to impose one on them. I have helped several people one on one to move from smoking to vaping but all of them asked about it as alternative because they knew I vaped. I never tried to get anyone to change unless they approached the subject themselves.

I have tried and it worked poorly. I’m taking this advice myself.

Of course, all about the free will here. I took a job with a vape store because I have had great personal success with (OTHER STUFF). I know tons about (OTHER STUFF) & can help with those selections but when approached by clients asking for help to stop smoking, I'm far less knowledgeable. I've never been a smoker, so I've never had to quit. I think there's only so much that I can get from YouTube reviews. The more people that I get to interact with, the better I'll know my subject matter.

Fair enough, but if someone walks in and says that they want to stop smoking, its my job to help them choose a system to do so. I've never smoked, so I am nosey in that I'd like to know what works for other people.

You're nosey too, you read the post.

Everyone is different, so what worked for me might not work for someone else. And the choices of vape equipment available today can be overwhelming to a smoker wanting to quit. The first and best advice you can give is that there are no flavors that exactly replicate a burning cigarette as far as taste goes. There are a multitude of tobacco flavors but they do not taste like cigarettes. Not even close. This is not a bad thing though, especially in my case, i wanted something that DIDNT remind me of tobacco. People who are trying to quit smoking with vaping sometimes go into it with unrealistic expectations, looking for a cigarette like experience. After a week or two of vaping, a burning cigarette smelled like a dead dog's hind end. Well, close anyway. The flavor that i quit with tasted like fruit loops and milk. Some people vape tobacco flavors and love them. Im just not one of them. Finding the flavor that does it for ya is half the fun. Sticking with it till ya dont need cigs anymore is the reward. Hope that makes sense.

@Freebs Welcome!
Here's the thing, Which Mod do I tell you about?? Honorary member of the Shinyitist group here.
Do I talk about my eleaf Pico 75's? eleaf Pico 21700's? eleaf Pico Squeeze's? All of which do not have on the starter kit type toppers, which are, in order as shown above; 1 Vaporesso Veco One Plus Top airflow RTA and 1 SMOK TFV-8X Baby Beast Brother Top Airflow RTA - 2 each KAAES Solomon 2 Top Airflow RTA's - 2 ea Oumier Wasp Nano RDA's with BF Pins

Now. That was just a few of my mods and the ones I carry out and about for normal use.
How about my Ijoy Capo Squonker with an OBS Engine Nano (non-squonking), or the Fuchai Squonk with a Oumier VLS RDA, or how about my DNA200 Brass with a Juggerknot Mini Top Airflow RTA, or even my DNA75 which is holding my Oumier Wasp Nano RTA?

Oh! Wait. I won't describe my many DIY PWM mods, using many of the toppers I listed up there, along with my Greekvape Zeus's

Now, wait again! None of this was available almost 7 years ago when I started vaping to only reduce my 2 Pack a Day, 36 years of smoking habit. I barely remember what I had 2 years ago, I won't try for that 7 year old list ;). And the list of "This will let you quit smoking!" is almost as long :O

So, what do you want to hear about??
Oh, and to help round it out for you, I spent less than HALF of the money for all that gear and More (I make my own eliquids), INCLUDING enough for the wife and her vapes, than I ever spent on smokes!

Welcome to ECF
Kudos to trying to help, I would suggest limiting your efforts to those that ask. Realistically the newer pods and mtl kits are the most popular with new vapers. Easier is better at first, vaping is simply not as easy as smoking. Cruise the forums and yt for beginners gear and learn which are some of the better ones. Remind them dual use is fine for however long it takes to move into full time vaping. Make sure they know that absorption of nic with vaping is different and slower than with smoking. They will have to let their brains and bodies acclimate. They will cough for a day or two until they learn to vape. Recommend they join a vaping forum before buying their first setup and ask any question that pops into their head where they can get answers from experienced and newish vaper's.
