safe distance from a black hole
Hi @Freebs .
Welcome to ECF.
Quitting smoking, vaping, are two big subjects that can be quite separate from each other and can also be quite entwined.
Both subjects also contain a swag of emotional content, bias and misinformation along with some solid facts.
Sometimes the best way to get the information you are looking for is to fine tune your questions so that there is little room for emotional response.
Good luck :D

A life saved is a life saved. Who cares if you have to annoy them a little at first. Later down the road, they'll enjoy every minute of additional living time you pokered up for them.

Sounds exactly like the MO of the Jehovah’s Witnesses who kept knocking on my door until I scared them off with Tarot cards. And the hundreds of window and siding companies who called before I had caller ID. And the well-meaning friends who tag me in bogus ‘cures’ on SM.

I don’t tell other people how to live their lives and I won’t stand for it either. If I want to know, I can ask.

Why don’t you get a simple device and try vaping for yourself to find out what it’s all about? You can use zero or very low nicotine liquids and you don’t need to inhale vapor into your lungs if you don’t want to. You will be much better informed and able to assist others more effectively IMO.

Cheers!

Seems to be what she wants us to infer. Yet she avoids stating so herself which is curious.

She seems to pretty clear in what she saying.

It doesn't look like she is trying to tell people what to do, just helping people who come in and ask.
BTW....The first two examples you used for analogies don't cause cancer or kill you. I don't know about the third.

***Apparently, I should add...It's my job to assist in the choosing of vape devises and accessories. I'm like, Hank Hill of E-Juice. People come here to ask for help when they want to stop I'm not out harrassing smokers, just asking about your success stories & struggle tips. **

Fair enough, but if someone walks in and says that they want to stop smoking, its my job to help them choose a system to do so. I've never smoked, so I am nosey in that I'd like to know what works for other people.

Let's not try to scare off people that are trying to help others find a better alternative to smoking. I for one, appreciate what she is doing.:)

Why does it matter if something causes cancer or not? Maybe you need someone to walk up in your face and patronize you for how you live. I do not. I’m a grown up. I don’t want anyone to .... into my business and tell me not to smoke or how to quit, what to eat, how to do my hair, what are the best shoes, how much exercise I need, etc.

It’s clear to me that OP first post says she wants to get in other people’s faces and tell them to quit, and assumes she can find out a few things about vaping when she has clearly no knowledge herself, with the purpose of presenting herself as someone who has the information when also very clearly, she found this forum and could easily direct those people here.

Only after she was called out as a buttinski she amends that to say “if they ask.”

I do not find this a caring and conscientious way of assisting. It’s absolutely obnoxious.

. I don't have any use for narrow minded, narcissistic people either, but I still give them a chance. I will not get angry for someone offering me advice. Doesn't mean I have to use it, but I will consider all advice and weigh it's worth before I make a decision. Life is too short to be miserable because someone gives you advise....useful or otherwise. An individuals advice(useful or not), is not the same as govt. force/overreach. Oh yeah! People wanting to help others....is not all about you lady!!!

BTW! I am a 59 year old adult retired from the Navy who has been around the world a few times. It's given me some perspective and greatly helped me to be more open minded.

Nobody appreciates supercilious strangers coming around proselytizing the one true way. Society's big problem right now is uppity do-gooders who make it their business to judge how others live and attempt to pressure them into changing. Especially with government backing. Smokers have been the punching bag of society for too long. Discrimination by any other name would still stink as foul.

Wrong! The worlds biggest problems are, greed, hate, selfishness, close mindedness, isolationism, nationalism, narcissism, entitlement, superiority complex, racism and prejudice, and people not giving a crap about anyone but themselves. The least of our problems(personally don't count this as a problem) are people helping save other peoples lives. Wish there were more of them.

This may be controversial, but I do not believe that life is so precious that freedom of choice should be restricted. Suicide whether immediate or through destructive life choices is at the discretion of the the individual. I do not subscribe to the moral imperative of helping those who refuse help.

Lead by example. You shouldn't leave your house. I know it's fun, but it could kill you....

Never leaving your house could kill you too. Another thing life is too short for....worrying what's going to kill you View attachment 827737
As far as I know, life is a sexually transmitted terminal disease with only one known cure.
