Based on some posts from Russ I've switched to 29 and like it. I got spools of 30, 28, 27 kanthal and nichrome as well, but 29 seems to be my sweet spot, but I'm a single coil small chamber kind of vaper.

Yeah, I agree. I like 29 on those smaller attys...they are looking far more user friendly right now too...:glare:

You say your shooting for .6ohm. I'm assuming you're shooting for 1/2 your target single coil preference?

I agree with Fewer wraps, bigger diameter vertical coil. With the Origin you need to get juice to the coil somehow. I ran ready-wick which did the trick for me. Big squonks help too.

With the coil gizmo I believe the next size up is 3mm. If you stuck with the 27g you would want a 5 or 6 wrap.

If your up to the challenge of wrapping dual parallel's, they do light up quicker. I think it would be tricky screwing them down without washers though. They are also 1/4th the resistance and you will start popping fuses.

Pics of your setup? Let us know how it goes.

It's a handmade jig so have no idea what diameter I'm working with but it's small.

In other news... Expensive drip tips and clumsy monkeys...

I have learned through extensive scientific testing... That acrylic-capped tips from driptipdesignz are engineered with a lifespan of four (yes, that is 4) dives off of a 4' dresser.

Likely more if they are not attached to a mod or falling tip-first

ETA: And my MVP reads it at .6 but my ohm reader hits it at 1.6 ohms. I usually trust my MVP as the heads I build are used on that so it has to say over 1 ohm but I think anchoring it to the ohm reader to build will be easier than building it on the MVP...

My crappy build:

The build is fine. I would run some wick down to the bottom of the well from both coils, to soak up juice that flows down into it. Otherwise, you'll have juice build up in there, and you won't be able to stow away your mod dry.

I run this with the coils a tiny bit closer to the center post, so they sit right where the juice flows out.

The wick does go in the wells on one side I just have to poke them back in when I put the cap on. Will try a better build if my left arm decides to wake up at some point. Less angled and more horizontal so there could be better hitting of the wick on both sides. Plus setting the tails for their anchoring before I actually attempt it again. As it is the top of the wick dries out fast while the rest is well saturated. Just fiddling now. At least I figured out why the draw was too tight!

This was my last Origin build. I used 26g Nichrome 80 so it needed 12 wraps to bring it up to .5Ω. You may want to stick with 10 wraps or less. Even less wraps than that if you go with thinner wire (Like Super_X).

I ended up cutting off the wick coming out the top of the coil which greatly improved the performance. Like you said the high side gets dry and then it just burns up. I squonk until I see juice through the air hole, that way I know at least 1/2 the coil is submerged.

I think the Origin was intended to run like a tankless genny - with vertical coils. .5Ω on the Origin is a pretty good vape. (for my taste that is)

After 12 coils that all failed my left arm and hand has stopped. I was looking at the bottom and I think through twisting on and off and on etc. of the center post the reason they all failed was the atty's firing pin was screwed up too far. I'll try again later when my hand and arm return. I'm pretty close to just getting an RM2 or Igo l....FRUSTRATED!!!

I wonder how many times it would bounce when I throw it from my car on the freeway....:glare:

Just the Atty I hope, and not a fine piece of bee wood!

Oh no way!! Just the atty, the mod will be fine when I get something...I am mad at the Origen. Just tried another build with the firing pin far enough out. Two coils of 10 wraps of 30 gauge registers .62 on my ohm reader and NON on my MVP and will. not. fire. on my OliveR. I'm done. Anyone want an Origen?

Sounds like a definite problem with the center positive pin in the Atty 510 connector. Sorry you are having problems with it.
