I welcome anyone who wants to correct me here because I am fairly new to the world of Ecigs. That said, I have to say that I think once videos and information gets posted "out there" (in the world of never never land (aka internet), some of us see it as expert advice, even though the author may later make a new video with different info, or blogs get posted with updated into, etc. But we see the old stuff first and think that's still "ok".

So I thought this would be a good post to start and hope others add to it. This is what I've learned as "corrected info to what I originally saw/read" before purchasing my first ecig:

1. What I saw in a video:
"I charge my Volcano inferno overnight and it's ready in the morning."
What I learned from Volcano directly:
"Never charge your battery overnight, it begins charging, reaches a charge and then begins to discharge."

2. What I saw in a video:
"Manual batteries are sealed. Automatic batteries are not sealed and have a hole in them."
What I learned first hand:
My manual K808D-1 batteries were unsealed, with a hole in them leading to the battery even though they had manual buttons, therefore, the "condom filling cart video method" cost me 2 batteries which died after trying it.

3. Video, the condom cart method
My added notes:
Note, use only for unsealed batteries, again, see above. Note: not for use on INFERNO batteries.

Anyone else? What have you read/watched that maybe should be cleared up/expanded upon here? Once the videos are out there they get copied, embedded on other sites, etc., etc. and they are run away misinformation. Perhaps the confusion/answers are found herein this massive site, but newbies would not know where to look for same, so maybe take some time and post some good stuff here for all of us?

Wait . . . what? Do they have special chargers then? :?: That's crummy . . . who wants to sit around waiting for their battery to be finished, especially for somebody like me (whose battery dies when it is time for bed.) Anyway, I never have a problem with my eGo batts. :)

Wait . . . what? Do they have special chargers then?)

I was wondering the same thing. My understanding is that a lot of the rechargeable batteries used for PVs are smart lithium ion batteries, which (when used with the appropriate charging device) will stop charging once full charge has been reached, even if the charger is still receiving power from an electrical source. With that said, I have limited experience and know nothing about the Volcano.

I also have manual batteries with holes in them (M4xx). I think the reason is that some models' manuals still have an automatic cutoff if you draw too long. When I set it down I do it so it's tilted with the cart a bit lower than the battery and I am real careful after totally filling a cart. So far I haven't drowned a battery.

I bought a carto unit to try - a small V4L (KR8) kit and was surprised by the difference between using carts and cartos. The premium WOW carto (not a Boge or what they call Coolcart) was really hot on my lips and the draw was loose compared to a cart. I think I like carts better but will reserve judgement until I have tried the Coolcarts. I am glad I tried I carto unit.

I discovered I am crazy about buying juice samples but not good at trying them! I don't want to put them in carts to try them. I don't care for dipping (would sort of waste juice to try a bunch). So I bought a DSE901 atty for my KR8 battery and a drip tip and will try them all.

I discovered I don't need to take long long long draws and in fact that I am incapable of doing that. I have a small mouth.

I discovered flavors make a big difference in TH.

I discovered some places have crazy sales, especially this time of year.

The batteries are 1000 mah so I don't know if that makes any difference. The really cool thing is they only take about 2 hours to charge. They take less time to charge than my little standards. Because of the power, I do use the special Inferno charger that comes with the kit. It's clearly marked with their logo so I don't mix it up with the other charger. They last a really long time. I had ordered my first order ala cart so I didn't get the pass through (650 mah) so last night I ordered a kit and a spare battery.

I'm going to swap the pass through that comes in the cart for me and add the extra battery to the kit for a friend for a Xmas present - she doesn't have a computer, is broke, lives far away. This was my pay it forward gift spending way too much on her so can stop smoking, save money and eat better.

Because she doesn't have a computer, I'm going to be busy putting everything she needs to know in writing so she understands all about this Ecig thing cause I can't just say read this website or watch this video or come here on this forum.

The stickys in the ECF New Members forum has good info, and what to avoid, you won't go wrong there.

For a video http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/new-members-forum/120044-i-made-videos-newbies-particular-broke-newbies.html has the info without having to read.

And if you still have questions ECF is very friendly, and you will get answers, no flames!!

Battries from what I've seen / read - manual, no holes = GOOD, automatic, holes = BAD
(and from my experience, it's true)

Mistress Nomad! I LOVE YOUR VIDEOs. Watching you is what made me understand why two of my batteries died (the hole thing). Just know that I did have manuals with holes (= non sealed). You look so much like you could be a sister to a friend of mine - does "Skeeter" make any sense to you? If not, you aren't related LOL.

THANKS FOR THE VIDEOS!

I would have done that if I had known about the problem. Well, I would have tried, not sure I would be that careful - maybe a little kick stand would be helpful LOL.

Another problem was using the condom fill on them was I would overfill. I should have drained them before using them. My mistake. I know I'll never buy an unsealed battery again (consciously anyway).

The cartomizers do get hot if you are using them frequently on the KR8. I found that alternating between two batteries was very helpful.
