I'm a Congressman from California and I vape in DC all the time around all the other congressmen. There are a few others besides me. A few have pipes, one has the smoke anywhere e-cig. I pass out the puresmoker business cards I get w/ thier products. I've even gotten a few staffers and security guys to buy them.

They love the screwdriver by the way...it's such a huge, manly, vaping machine.

If you search for a congressman named Cliff Stearns and e-cigarette you might find the article written on him and his e-cigarette. It was written in Roll Call or The Hill (two DC daily papers)

Anyway, a few of us know about vaping and if you would send me a PM w/ the exact info on what the FDA is doing I'll be happy to write a letter, get some other representatives to co-sign it, and get on the FDA.

An HOH tipster reported seeing Rep. Cliff Stearns (R-Fla.) smoking in the Rayburn House Office Building cafeteria, shortly after the House vote on the stimulus bill Friday afternoon.

And while HOH could understand that the showdown vote was probably prettystressful, we were surprised to hear about Stearns’ smoky indulgence — lighting up is banned in the cafeteria, after all, and Stearns himself has been vocal about the harms of cigarettes.

A Stearns spokesman cleared the air for us with an unusual story. Stearns was demonstrating “smoking” an electronic cigarette, a device used to help wean smokers off those addictive coffin nails. The nifty faux smokes
produce vapor that mimics smoke, but doesn’t deliver carcinogens into the body.
“I believe that this is healthier for smokers and offers a practical way to help smokers quit,” Stearns said in a statement provided to HOH. “This could be the wave of the future in smoking cessation.”
Stearns wants to share the gadget, too: He’s given one to his son and one to House Minority Leader John Boehner (the Ohio Republican is a hard-core smoker).
Stearns even offered this bipartisan peace pipe: “I am going to send a package to President Barack Obama to help him quit or meet with him and enjoy a harmless, carcinogen-free​

smoke.”

Wow, a Congressman... That's really cool. Let's hope this can get us on the right path. I wouldn't know where to begin. Hopefully uberjaeger can keep us posted or can advise us on what we could or should do to get through to the proper channels.

I would love to write a letter, but I am too new to vaping, and I just do not have enough facts to be able to properly write a letter with good impact! The letter should be from someone who has studied this and has good credible resources, as this will make all the difference!

You might talk to Steve at Puresmoker. In one of his previous posts on New Years Eve, Steve helped him with a purchase. Steve would have records of his real name and could match it up with the current congressmen. And if anyone needs help with the FDA, it would be him so he can get his orders through from China.

You're very knowledgeable Yvilla and don't have commercial interests, I think you would be a good representative for the US folk here (not that I have any business saying that because I'm not in the US).

Well, since he asked for a pm, I guess I'll just do it, and point him to the FDA letter that's been quoted so many times here, as well as to the quoted FDA spokesperson's comments from some of the news articles we've seen.

Will come back here with any response I get.
