improved airflow on a 510

so, I have figured out how to almost double the airflow on my Buzz Pro using 510 Boges.

I cranked the center screw up almost as far as it will go. the result is that the carto will only screw in about half way before making contact, and being able to fire. Once screwed in, I can still see the vent holes through the notched in the top of the 510 cap, and now get nearly double the amount of airflow.

End result, almost no force required for a good draw, and easier on my jaw with TMJ!

Just wanted to share, if anyone needs a pic of what this all looks like, let me know, and I will post one.

My cartotank doesn't leak into the threaded area. If your holes aren't too large, and you don't try to make a carto last longer than it's actual life, there should never be any juice in that area to leak into the body. I can't remember the last time I saw the bottom of a carto wet on my unit, so I am not worried about it.

I have been considering for some time, putting a drop or 2 of silicon epoxy (same stuff that seals the edges of a fish tank) into the bottom of my 510 cap. It would waterproof it, and it would be soft enough that I could still remove the screw, and easily remove the silicone if I ever need to service the cap.

I didn't say your carto or tank leaked. Mine don't either, but accidents do happen and there are others here who may read this and go ahead and do this. That was why the question was asked.

I would assume it is slightly more susceptible to leaks as there is less threading in the way, but it was never a sealed connector anyways, and already prone to a leak getting into the body. Care and maintenance should prevent that in either case.

The pcb is coated to help protect it in case of leaks too. I'm glad this is helping your TMJ issues Ark. The only concern I would have is the inner screw that holds the ring terminal for the wire. Loosening the top cap screw also loosens that inner screw. Keep an eye on it in case you have any problems, so you know to check it

I normally would recommend an adjustable air flow adapter. Most of the unsealed adapters I have you can screw the center pin up or down to adjust the air flow.

The best thing to do is to add more plastic washers under the screw head , this will raise it and keep it sealed

Bov, I used pliers when I tightened the lead wire screw so it is not coming loose.
