Ad copy from the site: "RY4 done the Indigo Vapor way! Indulge in this perfect melding of caramel, vanilla and a rich complex tobacco."

I'm always up for a new RY4. Good ejuice's GJ4 (NET) and RY4 (Lab) are my gold standards at this point, though I can also enjoy the more traditional Dekang DK4 at times. So it was with great enthusiasm that I loaded Indigo RY into my Evod. Though I know I shouldn't fall into this trap, I suppose I also had high expectations because Indigo is the single most expensive juice I've tried -- in 30 ml bottles, it's a whopping $0.60 per ml! Compare that to Ahlusion ($0.53), Good Ejuice ($0.47), Alien Visions ($0.54), eVo ($0.36), HHV ($0.43) and Mt Baker ($0.22)*, among others. Indigo is way out there in terms of price, so I expected something commensurate in the flavor department.

As I took my first hit of Indigo RY I froze. What the hell is this?!, I wondered. And not in a good way. There was a pretty strong caramel note, but it was overwhelmed by an acrid, stomach-churning smell that I still haven't been able to identify precisely. The closest I can come is this -- Have you ever made a quick sandwich at night, in a half-asleep or half-drunk state, eaten two or three bites, and then, frozen in fear, come to the unsettling conclusion that something is very, very wrong? And then you spit out the most recent bite, turn on the lights, and realize that there is green mold growing on one side of the bread?

That green mold is the predominant taste of Indigo RY.

I could very easily throw out a thesaurus-full of adjectives to describe this stiff, but let just three suffice: toxic, wretched and nauseating. I debated throwing "evil" in there, too, but I will refrain. For now.

At first I wondered if perhaps one of Indigo's flavorings perhaps did get moldy before this juice was mixed, but Indigo Classic (another attempt at an RY4) doesn't really have this flavor (well, perhaps the slightest whiff of it). Could it be the tobacco base? The Turk, a non-RY4, reeks fairly strongly of this moldy scent, while Eureka doesn't. What's the common ingredient here? I don't know -- only Indigo can tell us.

Or could this flavor actually be intentional? I find this very hard to believe. But at the same time, it has occurred to me that this might be an attempt at producing a grassy or hay note. If so, it's a moldy grass or hay, and it should be put out to pasture.

Indigo RY was utterly unvapable to me, as you might have gathered by now. I have to give it a 0 for flavor, on a scale of 1 to 5.

Finally, I just want to say I bear Indigo no ill will. I'm very enamored of some of their juices, and utterly unimpressed by others. But RY simply strikes fear into me.

Flavor: 0/5
Authenticity: 1/5
TH: 4/5
Buy again? No way

* All prices are from the last time I bought juice from a given vendor, and may have changed since then. Also, MBV's price is for 50ml bottles.
