I have been vaping for a year now and I have always used my trusty krusty KR808-D1 and cartomizers. They are convenient, easy to fill and the flavors are easily switched out letting me have a variety available at any given time. The battery life is decent but if you are planning on an extended stay away from your pass thru you want at least 2. Now with that background out of the way on to the review of the new Inferno Tank system.
First impressions upon opening the package and seeing the items: For the most part the product looks very well manufactured and the packaging is exceptionally well done. It looks very professional and although this has no bearing on the product itself it does lead me to believe I am dealing with a professional company (First impressions and all)
Now I am by no means a stupid person but the world of mods, and new systems, and batteries, and ohms all give me a headache. I like the KR8 because of its simplicity and ease of use. The Inferno system did not make me cross my eyes and dot its T's. You have two batteries in the kit, one of which doubles as a pass thru while charging, a tank-o-mizer, and blank tanks along with the power cords to charge everything. It comes with a very well done instructional manual (although it really should be a bit more extensive on the tank system itself) You simply screw in the atomizer to the battery and pop the tank into the atomizer. Done. Simple right? Well let's see how it works in practice.....
Yup that's all there is to it. 3 pieces all glide together effortlessly. One thing I should point out is the atomizer is very easy to avoid cross threading with. When you line it up simply give it a quick turn counter-clockwise (lefty loosey people) until you hear and feel a slight click. Then screw it in and tighten it down. I thought it was worth mentioning as I have ruined a few cartomizers here and there due to this issue which meant all that juice I just filled it with went to waste.
I decide to fill my first tank to see just how much of a process this is going to be. Each tank comes with a silicon condom. (Don't throw this away as it is used for storage after tank puncture) Popping the cap off isn't QUITE as simple as everyone says. I bite my nails so my nubby little nails were having a time popping that end off. I finally resorted to using a nail file to slip under the seam and make a gap to pop it off. (They are on tight enough that a paperclip in the puncture hole isn't going to cut it) Once that is done all you have to do is drip 20-25 drops of your selected juice into the tank and replace the cap. That's it, your tank is full and ready to go. Make sure to leave a little air in the top of the tank (don't fill completely to brim). I would highly recommend that people have an alternative to this system as each tank holds just over 1ml of juice. This means to fill a tank you're going to invest 1ml of juice. If you're trying a new flavor that means you're committing a tank that will have to be thoroughly cleaned if you don't care for the juice. I suppose you could fill the tank with much less liquid but I don't really want to skimp and let it run low causing a burnt out atty.
The chargers are pretty straight forward and anyone who has charged any type of modern electrical component should have no issues. I will not go any further into this portion.
Now on to the most important part..... Does it work? Is it better than carts and cartos? What does the vapor taste like and what is the vapor production like? Well one thing that should be noted is that once you pop the tank onto the tank-o-mizer you should take 4-5 good long strong pulls (inhales) before hitting the button. This will prime the atty and prevent burning taste. On the first "lit" inhale I was honestly truly shocked. I have vaped many flavors at many strengths from many vendors. I have my favorite flavors and know what they taste like and love the subtleties in them. I popped one of my very favorite tried and true flavors on (a banana foster mix) and hit the button...........
OMG.......
The flavors came through about 100% more than on any carto I have ever used. I can taste everything in the juice and it just floored me. I cannot believe the difference in flavor here. It's not burning at any higher voltage than my cartos but just having the juice with no filler hitting the atomizer directly from the tank is a world of difference.
The vapor production is off the charts. I'm hot boxing the room in no time and it's more than ever produced on any of my KR8's!
A couple of very important notes that should be made at this point. When using a tank for the first time do yourself a favor and pop it into the tank-o-mizer BEFORE you fill it. When the tank is punctured it usually has a little piece that catches. If you pop the lid off after you puncture you can use a pair of tweezers to twist and remove the little "hang nails". Doing this with a full tank in your fingers at the same time is a bit more difficult.
Now in my first few pulls I noticed a kind of unusual "mechanical" taste. This was due to my own inexperience with atomizers. Apparently you should really rinse them out as they come packaged in an oil of some kind. I pulled my atty off and went through the recommended cycle of blowing out and cleaning a new atty and the taste went away.
All in all this is a great system. I can definitely see where the tanks themselves are a new technology and could be refined a bit more. Personally I think the lids would be better if they were made with softer silicon materials on the cap end. (I don't know how that would hold up making a seal though) The tank are VERY convenient. You can fill 4 or 5 tanks and have a rotation of flavors. Instead of carrying larger more inconvenient bottles of juice just fill a few tanks and go. (I'm still working on a viable transportation device that works for me personally) I saw a few people griping about the burnt taste and labeling tanks. Well if you follow the directions for priming and cleaning a new atty, and remember a pair of tweezers to pull off the hang nails of a new tank when punctured I dont' see where the burnt taste would happen. Labeling is EASY. Just use a Dymo label maker (Like $15 at any wal mart) and Come up with a shorthand you understand for flavors and label away.
Hope this helps anyone thinking about a new tank system and I have to say kudos to the innovators of this new delivery system. I can't see anyone going wrong with this kit and company. It has been fantastic since the first (well ok 2nd since I cleaned the atty after the 1st) vape!!
