Hey Switched, if I recall correctly Volcano's stuff is made to their specs by Shenzhen Jieshibao Technology Co. (JSB). The Inferno is a nice unit. I'm thinking about picking up a red one myself. The noticable differences between an eGo and the Inferno aside from the mah ratings are:
1) Cone is not threaded. It is attached by friction fit with an o-ring seal.
2) USB passthrough type battery does not have a threaded cap/cover like the eGo USB PT.
3) The paint jobs....which look sooooooooo cool on the Inferno.

No prob, yep only on the 650s so far. Haven't seen anyone making a higher mah PT battery yet but it can't be too long before that happens.

For those that don't know how it works....the eGo, Vgo, and Inferno PT batteries look like regular batteries just slightly longer than a comparable 650 size non-PT battery. On the endcap section (base) there is a small USB mini port surrounded by a slightly opaque plastic. When you attach a standard USB mini cable to the port and plug it into any standard USB power supply like a computer, car, or wall charger, it supplies power to the battery. This allows you to charge and use the battery at the same time. It is indispensible to folks that spend a lot of time in one place.

I saw another thread that claims the Inferno are rebranded JOYEs (which is not a bad thing if it is true)

That is what I was digging at. There have been a slew of new vendors (not Volcano) perse that have been flaunting knock-offs as eGos. As we know this is not true. JoyE is the only coy that mfrs the eGo. There is nothing wrong with a knock-off perse, just that the information to both the unwary vendors and customers is erroneous to say the least, especially if the units are sub-par, which JoyE does not permit and to some point Janty is really fussy wrt QC, more than others.

JoyE is the official mfr for re-branded eGos, like the Tornado, the Happy eGo, etc... On some of these knock-offs it is the battery case that gives them away, on the Inferno the battery case for the 650 looks identical to a re-branded eGo, what wasn't was the 1000mAh battery that is not put out by JoyE. That being said, JoyE does not mfr batteries perse.

No prob.....but FWIW, Joye does have a 1000mah model out. Cignot and TW carry them. I'm pretty sure that Janty isn't carrying them yet though. I have one 1000 auto from TW. Works great with the cartos. Kinda like smokin a cigar. Admittedly I prefer the Janty 650 autos with the cartos. Makes it easier to hold em in my teeth like I used to with real stogies.

Yes that is indeed correct and I stand corrected. I got the poop last night from Stubear.

This is what I was mentioning here earlier, it gets mighty confusing.

JoyE does indeed make a 1000mAh battery, they make it for others. For the time being, nor JoyE or Janty sell the 1000mAh battery.

There are other places that do not sell the 1000mAh as well, but sell the 900mAh. They see no need to stock both batts when one only has a 100mAh difference. The question is, is the 1000mAh a 900mAh battery or they are 2 separate and distinct batteries?

With all the misrepresentation from the Chinese, it is easily seen how folks are becoming more confused by the day. Are they indeed 2 separate and distinct batteries or just a marketing strategy? I can see why vendors are stocking either or. Nonetheless, both are mfrd by JoyE and should prove reliable.
