Normally with large capacity batteries, you get better performance / lifespan if you go through an initial charging cycle.

1. Fully charge the battery without using it

2. Disconnect from power source

3. Use as normal until the battery is completely dead -- without any interim charging.

4. Repeat 1-3

5. Repeat 1-3

6. Begin using the battery as normal.

I just bought a Volt X2 900 mAh. I plan to do this, but I thought I would post here to make sure there is no reason not to...

Welcome to ECF.

Most of these e-cig batteries ship with a partial charge and are good for anywhere from 200-500 charges, depending on battery chemistry and manufacturer.

I never bought the Volt X2, but on my eGo Twist batteries that I used to have I would charge them when they arrived and charge them again when they cut off from regular use.

If the X2 is like other eGo type batteries it will have a safety cut off point before the battery is completely drained.

The X2 is likely the same as any other ego battery...just with different 808/ego threading, and it is a passthru charging thru a cable instead of on a normal ego charger, meaning the charger is internal to the battery. That all being said. a lithium battery is a lithium battery, so I would treat it the same as any other battery.

Smokeless Image has a sub-forum down below and answer questions pretty quickly...might try posting you question there.
