Innokin iSub Apex Tank For "Tootle Puffers". . . .

x9ZOzHB.jpg

Where do I start . . .

First and foremost, as a “Dual User” (a Part-time Vaper who still smokes cigarettes) that has always wanted the easiest way to Transition into the Vaping World to become a full-time Vapor and quit smoking it has been difficult to say the least . . . Also - I am a “Tootle Puffer” . . . Given this, I am basing this discussion and review on what I have found not only interesting, but reaffirming and somewhat enlightening . . .

NOW – For the past few years I have been using Cartomizers, Clearomizers, and Carto-Tanks (“My” Favorite for consistency) with a variety of different Batteries, including some MOD’s & even some that are VV/VW . . . And – Recently I’ve been using a Billet Box that has an internal tank that uses either a carto and/or a Billet Bridge which has changeable pre-made atomizer available too.

SO – I bet you’re asking . . .

What is a “Dual User” who is a “Tootle Puffer” – doing with or using a sub-oHm tank . . .

Well – I asked myself the same questions at first, although I did not want to sub-oHm or become a “Cloud Chaser” at all . . . Since Innokin was making a 2.0 oHm coil available to use with the iSub Tanks, including the Apex – I just had to try a sub-oHm to see what if anything they offered for someone like “Me” – The “Dual User Tootle Puffer”

At first, after opening the box I was quite taken aback how different the Innokin Apex Tank actually looked and somewhat confused how to use it. AND - Given some of “My” pervious experiences testing new equipment, I also had to make sure I could properly use the Innokin iSub Apex Tank without getting myself into trouble again (to long of a story for here – let’s just say a huge mistake happened and Nicotine poisoning is – NOT NICE). SO – The first thing I decided was READ THE INSTRUCTIONS ! ! ! Also watch a couple of "How To” Videos to get more familiar with the product/s (especially instead of keep trying to unscrew something that should actually be pulled out/pushed in – Don’t Ask . . . ). Next was to use the same “E-Liquid” that I was using the most often – The Vape Tree’s Absinthe w/ “Menthol Crystal Liquid” & "Kolada" added. Finally was using the Innokin iSub Apex Tank on a Custom SS Tube VV/VW MOD I was use to using, along with the Innokin Disrupter/Cell and the Innokin Cool Fire IV which I had just gotten.

In addition, since the Innokin iSub Apex Tank, the Innokin Disrupter/Cell, Innokin Cool Fire IV were all brand new to “Me” . . . It has taken me sometime to figure them out & learn how to use each of these MOD's, set them up, get use to/work with each of them individually, and then use them in the testing of the Innokin iSub Apex Tank, especially all of them at the same time . . . So it took over the past 4 weeks to do . . .

Once I got the hang of it and got almost everything set-up the way I wanted, including having the MOD's all set at the same watts (10) - I was ready . . . Hey, what did Ya’ expect when there is a huge learning curve when you are use to things being simplified, especially when you are older, set in your ways – even though you are willing to learn how to do things that are different from your norm, but really rather not have to fiddle around with stuff . . .

Anyway – So, what did I found out . . .

To start with The Innokin iSub Apex Tank – THANKFULLY - comes with a “Quick Start Guide”(which everyone should absolutely look at & read), an extra .05 oHm Coil, additional o-rings, and the best of all (even though it is a Wide Bore) – A Pyrex Glass Drip Tip ! ! !

The look of the Innokin iSub Apex Tank is quite interesting to say the least, especially given the sleek design. It looks and feels very sturdy given the weight of the tank itself. The Pyrex tank is surrounded by Stainless steel, and Thankfully, although a little difficult - you can still see the level of “E-Liquid” through the window provided (just really wish the window was a little larger though). Matter of fact, with the Pyrex Glass being surrounded the way it is – IMO – it seems it would take a lot to break, even if dropped from a distance (which can be great, especially if you’re hands are slippery, you are clumsy, and/or have difficulty holding onto the weighty objects).

Now – If you actually looked at and read the “Quick Start Guide” you’ll notice the Innokin Apex Tank is divided into four areas – The Base w/Coil, the Pyrex Glass Tank, the Adjustable Airflow, and Removable Drip Tip. Once you get use to how each section works – comes apart and is put back together – it really becomes an easy peasy piece of equipment to change out the coil, refill the tank, and/or change/adjust the air flow. BTW: The Air flow was the most difficult area to find and get use to adjusting, since it is the very small slits right below the Drip Tip and not the open channels above the Pyrex Tank as I originally thought (DUH! ! ! ). IMO – This is a major oversight and really should have been noted in the "Quick Start Guide”. More importantly, if you need to use glasses to see anything, just be prepared to get a magnifying glass out to actually see/know how much of the air flow you are closing off.

With that said, I should also point out that when making these adjustments to the airflow to achieve better flavor and less vapor, I realized that using a thicker (or more viscous) “E-Liquid” I also had to “loosen” the Japanese cotton in the Coils for better “E-Liquid’ absorption too.

I found the ability to “Top-Fill” outstanding, well as long as you follow the instructions to take care to properly fill the tank and not let the “E-Liquid” overflow (Yea – I over filled the tank a couple of times . . . ). The best part though, there was no leakage – once the fill holes were closed off. Nor was there any backflow, well after I changed the wide bore Drip Tip to one with a standard opening.

I should also mention that before I tried the Innokin iSub Apex Tank with any modifications and adjustments – I did just use it right out of the box w/0.5 oHm coil . . . AND – Boy was that a learning experience - that only reaffirmed – without a doubt, that I am not a person who is interested in sub-oHming, nor am I a “Cloud Chaser” in anyway. As when I first started vaping and tried “Menthol Crystal Liquid”/ “Kolada” which I had added too much of into the “E-liquids” that I was using – after I stopped coughing, I actually had to pick my lungs up off the floor and get them back into my body . . . NOT NICE ! ! ! However, even with that said, overall and making the modifications/adjustments I did – IMO – the Innokin iSub Apex Tank is a well made piece of equipment that should be seriously considered, especially for those who NEED to taste flavor.

In summary, while not everything out there in the Vaping world is for everyone, especially given their individual taste and style of Vaping – however it seems there is occasionally a product or even a product line that will bridge the gap for many people. . . AND – As far as I am concerned, one such product that can, well with some slight modifications/adjustments is the Innokin iSub Apex Tank.

Okay - Now with that said, a disclaimer – I am not a professional writer, nor reviewer of any products/product line. The only reviews or suggestions I have made were at the spur of the moment and in response to a question that was asked in a thread or based on the discussion at the time which I believed I could provide information or add something to the conversation. Most importantly, anything I said was – or will say is – “My” Personal Opinion . . .

SO - Let the discussion start . . .

What do “You” think of the Innokin iSub product line: iSub – iSub G – iSub Apex Tank . . .

Edit to add:

Please Note: Talk about a "DUH" Moment . . .

I have a couple of the Isub G tanks and I love them. I used to be a tootle puffer, but I couldn't quit the cigs until I started lung hitting.
The tanks works great. Low cost, and low cost replacement heads. What I like about them the most is that even at 20 watts you get a great cool "hit".'
Other sub ohm tanks that I have tried required much more wattage, thus making the vape too hot for my liking.
I am an Innokin fan because their product work very well and are built very solid.

@GemInEye . . .

First, Cartomizers are exactly that - Cartomizers, which I will still use on a "Cig-A-Like", not on MODS . . . However to try and compare them to the Innokin iSub Apex Tank is really a No Go, especially since they are two very different products and means of delivering "E-Liquid" . . .

As for trying the 2.0 coils - YEP . . . As I already mentioned, that is the only reason I wanted to and was able to use the Innokin iSub Apex Tank, especially given that I do not wish to "sub-oHm" - nor want to become a "Cloud Chaser" (which was reaffirmed after I did try the .05 coil that came with the tank) . . .

AND - Like "You" - I NEED FLAVOR - Just not all that vapor that comes with "sub-oHming" . . . Using the 2.0 coils in the Innokin iSub Apex Tank and adjusting the them and the MOD's I used to "My" preferences (See above review again for specifics) . . . I can honestly say I was not disappointed at all . . .

BTW: There is much more information that I pointed out in the above review that "You" may want to really consider too . . .

Just Sayin' . . . ;)

Even with that said, IMO - the Innokin iSub Apex Tank w/2.0 Coils delivered the air flow and taste of FLAVOR as promised (YMMV) that I would highly recommend, especially to all the "Tootle Puffers" . . .

Make sure to post the "Porn" and more importantly, let people know what "You" think of it after Ya' get to use it for awhile . . . :D

You got it.
I have 3 Isub G tanks that I LOVE. Easy to fill, easy to clean, airflow control that actually works, no leaking.
Inexpensive, both for the tank, and the coils.
I cannot think of anything that I don't like about them.

Thank you for taking the time to reply. After re reading both your post my apex shall be here Monday. I am trying to find the Holy grail of tootle puffin tanks. I seem to like certain tanks for certain juices. I have my oreo cookies in an Atlantis, and my tobacco in a gs air but can't find anything for my fruits or desserts. I also ordered a rda to give that a try. They will probably laugh at the shop when i tell them what resistance i would like. Anywho thanks again @Uncle

What I like:
Easy to fill
"Prism" flavor system seems to really work well.
Uses same coils as all other Isub tanks.
Adjustable air flow works well

What I don't like:
Can't see juice level very well with lighter colored liquids
Seems like it may be difficult to clean.

Overall I am VERY happy with it.

Of course I like all my Innokin Products.
They work as advertised, built solid, and not outrageously priced.

Uncle...........great review...............but I have to ask because I have a problem with metal drip tips can it be changed?
Or is that what makes it "easy air flow".............

I'm not Uncle:)

But

The drip tip is changeable (and it's plastic)

@liblue1 . . .

Actually - The Innokin iSug Apex Tank Drip Tip is interchangeable and comes with 2 Drip Tips 1 - Stainless Steel and 1- Pyrex - however they are both Wide Bore Drip Tips . . .

AND - IMO - There are a number of reason why there is better airflow using the Innokin iSub Apex Tank, which may or may not include the Wide Bore Drip tip . . . Since I have been using another 510 Drip Tip (See Below)

Now for more specifics about the Drip Tips . . . The Stainless Steel Drip Tip - from what I can see is dual layered with what could be a "plastic"/"delrin" inner-lining w/2 o-ring just under the Airflow holes that extends into the tank and has a thin Stainless Steel coating (I do not have anything to actually measure the thickness) that feels exactly like the Stainless Steel of the tank itself . . . Oh BTW: It does not get hot as some Stainless Steel Drip tips do . . .

And the Pyrex Drip Tip is a Glass tube that sits atop the Stainless Steel rim that extends into the Apex Tank . . . Here is a similar picture of them that I found on the Internet:

isub-apex-innokin-driptip.png

Also, here is another picture of them on their sides I made so Ya' can see the rim of Stainless Steel and Airflow Holes:

HehJ8yF.jpg

BTW: The 510 Pyrex Glass Drip Tip that are pictured below are the ones that I actually used on the iSub Apex Tank which are working very well for MTL vaping . . . :D

PDOvixJ.jpg

Just as an FYI: The Drip Tip can be replaced by a variety of other 510 Drip Tips too . . . I have also come up with a work around if Ya' want to keep using the Wide Bore Drip Tips that came with the Innokin iSub Tanks that worked for "Me" . . . I took a regular Drinking straw, that I put into the hole of the Drip Tip and marked to size - then cut down just a little smaller to fit inside the hole and top with a small o-ring that fit around the straw top & inside the rim of Drip Tip to secure it . . . Which resulted in a cut back of the amount of vapor to a tighter draw for MTL hits . . . ;)

Hope all this information is helpful . . . ;)
