I am using a Coolfire IV mod and just got my iSub G. I followed the directions on the tank exactly to load it. I dripped 3-4 drops into the atty then filled the tank about 3/4 of the way full. (definitely NOT over full) I mounted it on the mod and let it sit for a couple of minutes. I set my mod to 15W since the tank is a sub ohm. My first draw was a dry hit. So I put a couple more drops on the atty and that worked. It was working fine but the vapor was a little warm for my taste so I adjusted the wattage down to 10. First draw was dry again. So I put it back to 15 but now it's hitting dry and harsh, even with a few more drops on the atty. What did I do wrong? How can I fix this?

EDIT: I took the atty out and looked at it. It's like the juice is not getting to the coils. It works fine as long as I drip juice in but after that is used up it's like it's not getting juice.

What coil are you running? Even at the 1.2 ohm 15w is a mid/low range, and if it's the 0.5 anything under 20w is basically gonna be no power at all, so that definitely should not have been burning a saturated wick.

The first time I used my iSub G atomizer I let it sit for like 20 minutes after priming and filling the tank. It's possible you didn't wait long enough that first time and now you've just got burnt cotton that's gonna taste like a dry hit even once it's properly wicked itself. I'd try popping another coil in and letting it sit for at least 20 min. after you prime/fill. I can't think of any way you'd be even be able to install the coil incorrectly since it has that one-direction-only straight edge port, so if that doesn't do the trick I'd just venture that you got a bad batch.

Also you can try the "stick a pin through the cotton" trick. I never had to on mine, but if you theoretically got a batch of coils that were over-wicked or wicked too tightly that might help.

I am using the 1.6 ohm coils that came with it and I have it set to 20W. I also have the air flow set to the most minimal I can get. I am struggling with the large mouth piece and I am a mouth to lung vaper. The wick is primed. I took it out and looked at it and yes it is seated properly as it will only fit one way. It came with an extra 1.8 ohm coil. I need to order some extra coils it looks since it looks like I might need them until I learn how to use this thing LOL I will install the extra that came with it and leave it for about 30 mins and see what happens. Thank you so much for the help :0

One other question, what do you do when you change juice in your tank? Do you clean the coils, put in a new one, or just vape through the old juice until the new come through? This is quite an upgrade for me. I hane only used ego king/queen 510 batteries and cartos or clearos. They were cheap enough that I just used a separate one for each flavor. I can't afford to buy that many of this type tank LOL I couldn't find anything about them being washable. I'm such a noob at this equip LOL

Yeah good luck. With a burnt hit immediately at such a relatively low wattage I feel like those are really the only three options. bad coil/bad wicking/not enough soak.

And good luck with MTL on that one, thing is like an atmosphere of airy. At least I think that makes it unlikely you have to worry about the airflow being part of the problem, since we can close the air flow all the way off and still get airy pulls heh.

I gotta say on my own I just started vaping again last month and had the iSub G first, but as soon as my subtank mini came I switched to that and haven't moved back because the flavor in the iSub was never great for me. Part of me thinks they may just be stuffing too much wick in there, even for the "good" coils. It's too bad there's no rebuildable atomizer for it so it could be easily tested with lighter wick builds. I've never tried the pinhole thing but since the coil is in a straight line with those holes it should be super easy to do, so if the longer soak for the new coil doesn't do it I'd try the pinhole as a last resort.

Ah yeah, see above about how quick I switched to the subbox once I got it.

I did rinse out my coils, at first by soaking it in warm water in a glass for like 20 minutes then refreshing the water and repeating a couple times, but eventually I was just literally sticking it in the sink under a very small stream of warm water and letting it flow through the juice holes/down the screen hole. My issue with the tank was always the muted flavor, so while rinsing it that way did get me another day or two out of them, it was definitely muting the flavor further, which was a bummer since I felt like the flavor was already too muted for me (though I still have smoker's tongue and nose, so my sense of taste isn't particularly strong yet.)

The only stronger thing I ever saw anybody recommend was doing what I did by soaking it in a glass, but doing it with vodka or isopropyl alcohol instead. Of those two I would probably only ever do the vodka, I wouldn't trust rubbing alcohol to evaporate out of the cotton without a trace. I'd say as long as you're doing a soak or a small-stream rinse there's no way it would *hurt* the coils, but in my own experience it wasn't super satisfying in the results, gave me another day or two at best before I felt like I had to just go for a new coil.

I also bought an Eleaf iStick 40W with a Nautilus tank. LOVE LOVE LOVE it, but since I bought 2 of the Coolfires and 2 of iSub G tanks, I can't really afford not to use them. I will try other tanks as I learn how to use these. :)

I know what you mean. I tried the vodka thing with cartos and had very unsatisfactory results. Guess I better stock up on coils LOL Thanks again for all your help.

I got a isub with my istick tc40 and it had only .5 coils with it and they wont fire under 20watts try running around 20watts and see if that helps

That is what I did. I have to run the Coolfire IV at 20 watts to get it to fire and that makes the vapor too hot for me. I may just replace them with a Nautilus. I'm having much better luck with those. :)

If you have more coils to play with, you might try starting at 8 watts and working your way up (until you find your sweet spot). With a 0.5Ω coil I might've started out with 20W, but that might've been a little high for 1.6Ω and you might have singed the wick. Once the wick gets singed, it loses a little density in the coil and you start tasting the juice burning on the coil where it's not making contact with the wick. The only way to fix that is to rewick, or at least try to stuff a little more material into the coil, if you can even access it. Also, the higher the power, the faster the wicking ability has to be, and you'd need more air.

One little trick you can try is to prime your wick before hitting it: cover the air hole and take a hit without turning it on. If you overprime, it might be a little slurpy for the first few hits, but it'll sort itself out. If not, you can try gently blowing into the drip tip and any excess liquid will exit through the air hole and you can just catch it with a paper towel.

I did singe the first one. It came with a replacement but it is 1.8ohm. It's vaping but not very good. I tried 10 watt, 15 watt and then ended up back at 20 watts and still not much vapor but what's there is hot. I bought 2 of them. One of them is still new in the box. I don't want to use it until I learn how to LOL

Maybe you need more air? If it's high vg, maybe you need to fluff the wick a little bit. Try poking at it with a needle, but be careful not to loosen it in the coil.

I'm vaping 40VG/60PG. My lungs can't handle heavy VG. Just tried it with more air and it was much better. Still on 20. Going to dial it down a bit and see what happens.

That's great to know. I just got it so I'm learning. Thank you! :)
You are welcome!....To get an idea of the volt readout, just look at the screen and fire the coil as if you were taking a puff. Only need a second or 2 to see it....do not hold it down for long though.:)
