My first attempt at coiling/wicking the Drunker myself ended in abject failure. First I tried stretching some Q-Tip cotton into string, then I tried cutting and rolling cheesecloth into string. I do not have any idea how to make string, so I gave up on that.
Then I got out some silica wick that I purchased before I had ever even heard of the Drunker, and could NOT, after wrapping the coil, get the silica to go through the holes in the center piece thing. So I cut some longer silica wick and carefully wrapped each of the 4 ends with tiny, tiny pieces of Scotch Tape to keep the wick from unraveling before pushing it through the holes. This actually worked.
Then I somehow managed to tear the little rubber grommet beneath the positive post, but tried to just seat it back in anyway, as it wasn't torn all the way through. The Provari gave me LO and E1 errors (most likely because of the leads and the rubber since I'm pretty sure the coil is OK), and I'm calling it a night.
Despite the fact that the threading is cheap and you can't just get all the replacement components in one place, I really like the Drunker. The stock setup has proven to be a reliable, excellent vape and leak-proof, but— right now at least— the prospect of successfully rebuilding this seems daunting. Since I've gotten somewhat adept at dealing with the Genny/SS mesh scenario, I thought this would be easier, but it's not. It's a whole different skill set.
I still have one more Drunker with a stock setup, and will try this again when I have time and the frustration subsides. In the meantime, I've very grateful to have a Cobra.
