Hi everbody,

just thought i'd introduce myself.

my name is rob and i'm new to this whole vaping thing. i've been a smoker for 31 years (started when i was 8) minus 4 years of quitting somewhere in between.

i'm hoping to be able to quit the analogs by vaping and have just ordered a 501 starter kit today after endless hours of frustratingly scouring the web and encountering way too much info, and then finally this forum.

glad to have found this site and all of the info and support it offers.

hopefully after some time and experience, i can also be of some assistance to new members as the posts here have been to me.

I also started with the 510( I think thats what you mean) and still enjoy it after 8 months. I do have others but still like the 510.

Just be kind to yourself when you start to vape. If your like a lot of us you will still want a cig once in awhile. This will go away. Everyone will tell you to drink plenty of water, so I will too.
So glad you found your way here

Hey that 510/501 thing happens so often we all just see 510 automatically! lol Man smoking since 8 and quitting 4yrs and getting back on again...this new journey will put that all in the past, permanently. As Suddenly said, "be kind to yourself" and go at your own pace. Don't beat yourself up if you have a cig...just keep on vaping and everything will come together.

Good luck on the quest.
When I started vaping, I had a couple of analogs a day, the first couple of days, then that was it.
Drinking plenty of fluids will help the throat because you will want to vape alot. I personally chose matgaritas . Gotta go get one now.
Congrats on your decision to vape.

Congrats on entering the Vaping community.

I had picked up a ecig at a local gas station to try out and it happened to be one of the overpriced models that just don't work. After researching I also ordered the 510 and after a few days of getting everything figured out and making sure I was always equipped, as of June 1st I have not touched an analog!

I was not intending to quit and as a matter of fact had given up entirely on the possibility because I loved smoking. Just hated the effects. After getting setup and going on the ecig, I found that I just didn't need to smoke analogs anymore. The ecig COMPLETELY replaced everything I wanted and needed in a cigarette without all the nasties. I smoked for 35 years and was at 2 packs a day and now I am 23 days analog free thanks to these remarkable devices.

I does take a little more work then just lighting a cig but you will get the hang of it easy. After a while it will actually become fun and can even become on obsession. LOL!

I am loving vaping now more than I ever did smoking and it taste SO much better.

Be sure if you have any questions to asked them. I could have saved a lot of time and a ton of money if I had known about this place when I first started out with e-Cigs.

BTW - The first week without smokes can be rough. Eat alot, drink alot of water, get some exercise and try vaping a high mg level juice. You can make it. Just "Stud Up" and get tough. After a week it does get better.

Hi Rob and welcome to ECF! A 510 seems to be the most suggested e-cig to try for starters and I certainly hope that you will enjoy it. If you don't, do not fear there are other atty models that my taste better to you and conform better to your vaping needs.

I started with an 801 and when exploring from there. I was a 29+ year smoker and after experimenting with different attys found that I enjoyed each one for different reasons on different mods.

If you do not enjoy your 510 come back here and tell us what you did and did not like about it and we will try to help steer you to a model that will be more comfortable and appealing to your tastes to vape.

Hey Rob, I think that many of us were in the same boat as yourself but you have made one of the biggest steps in your life. I certainly know I did. 20 years of smoking a pack a day. 3 months have elapsed and I feel 10 years younger and the biggest change was that my sinuses cleared up. I had to use allergy pills and nasal sprays for many years. Turns out I was allergic to tobacco, lol. Look forward to hearing more from you.

anyway, it already has a cart on the atty in addition to the 5 carts the kit was supposed to come with. is this a usable cartridge or is it just for protecting the atty?

It's just to protect the atty during shipping.

I think you can use it. See the flat edges where it fits into the atty? That should have little holes for you to suck through. Put a finger and thumb over these flat parts and try sucking through the mouthpiece. You can also fill the cart with water, put it over your head and blow through the mouthpiece from below. If you can blow without any water coming out, it's the same as any other cart. You just need filler. Do the highping cart mod on one of your other carts, and you'll have filler left over for the blank carts. Save your condoms! I keep losing mine.
