ive been beating this dead horse about customer service from the start things have not changed here on the second round and i believe even if you have the best device out there, there will come a day if they continue with not communicating, the only one who will be listening are the crickets i do hope this will change

You'd think the owner Jon would be keeping tabs on these "larger" forums, like ECF. If I was in his position, I'd do whatever I could to make sure my customers were kept up to speed regarding the the status of their orders.. I mean, you would think it would be worth the trouble keeping a thread like this updated bc he most likely will be dealing with all sorts of drama with the CC/Bank companies having all these orders canceled as they're not being fulfilled as advertised.I'm not planning on canceling my order, but I sure as hell ain't happy with this companies communication skills.

I'm number 2169! Must have been one of the last of this round! I must admit I am disappointed that when I ordered on the website it said the lead time was two weeks! After reading this thread think I could be waiting along time! Like others have said some honesty in lead times would have been nice!
Just hope the evic holds up until it arrives!!

I wish the eVic had better output power. The screen on it is still cooler than the DNA20 imo.

But the Futura has so much better (accurate? ) power delivery? I dunno, maybe I'm crazy.

Honestly, my eVic didn't hit well either. I switched to a VAMO and it was way better. Not sure why, in theory they should be the same but it was noticeable to me.

Completely agree. And I've had 2 of the eVic 510 threads go bad (strip out) which it's a shame, it truly is a cool looking mod with some cool features and I loved the upgradable firmware.

Ok enough about eVic's ....

I got my Futura used, it's a DNA20 version, love it. I'm using a semovar right now, but they are both awesome devices.

I can't imagine hitting a atomizer with more than 20 watts, though I'm sure people do.

I finally broke down and bought a Kayfun 3.1 for my Futura. I am tired of having a great looking mod and having to use a 510/801 sealed connector in-between my cartotank and device to prevent any possible drops of juice getting into my futura.

I am having a couple issues.

I have it setup fine. 1.0 ohm microcoil, tank is feeding juice perfectly. Nice amount of vapor. But, I am getting almost no flavor, which I thought was one of the top benefits of using a kayfun? I am using sterile cotton balls. Does the amount of cotton affect the flavor? Should I be using another wicking material?

I have my VW set at 7.5. My juice is 60pg/40vg. I am also getting a nic rush after a few minutes of vaping, which never happened using a cartotank. Would using a higher ohm coil take care of the quick nic rush? I really don't want to have to buy a lower mg juice just for this RBA.

Any and all advice is appreciated. Thanks.

As a Kayfun user on DNA mods, I run my watts at at least 15 depending on my build, often at the low 20s, sometimes higher even to 30 if I don't chain vape. 7.5w its too low for a KF. Try kicking it up to at leat 12. I am a 24mg nic user except on the KF. I use 6 or less.

How did it fire before wicking? Did it glow evenly from the middle outwards? Are there hot spots or cold spots?

Pic of your build would be helpful. Do you have your coil well above the airhole? Have you played around with the AFC? Is the wick too loose or too tight?

hey jnnsfrlsw dont have a kayfun but i do use gennys the AC9 and the AL-1 , i think you will need to lower your nic i went from 18mg down to 6mg i do use both ss mesh wick and a ss mesh/cotton or hybrid wick and on that set up i put just a thin film of cotton if i make it thicker till it turns white like a Qtip i loose flavor the reason i dont use cotton only is i have to rewick every other day ( i like the sweet stuff) but a hybrid wick i get 3-4 days and just a mesh wick about 6 days , i think for your set up maybe lower the nic and use less cotton maybe even half the amount you started with ( i used way too much when i first played around with cotton) let us know how it goes i kinda wanted to try a kayfun also

I thought the DNA20 wouldn`t even go that low. I think when you putb it at 7.5 watts it will still fire at 4V and with a 1 Ohm coil this will give you 16 as you know. Check the voltage when you fire it. It should give you 2.75V to get your 7.5 watts, I think this is too low for a DNA20. Try making some more wraps or use a thinner wire

What he said. The DNA will not reduce voltage below what the battery has. Add some coils. Be sure they are right over the airhole and lifted off the base. You will take less and maybe shorter pulls with the higher nic hit. You simply adjust to the product. Laboratory rats do when given the option and we are smarter than them.

With my coil reading 1.1ohm and the futura set at 7.5w its showing 3.3v. I bumped it up to 15w/ 4.2V. For sure more power but still no flavor. When I have some free time later I will take it all apart and try some sterile cotton strips instead of the cotton balls. I also have some premade higher ohm micro coils coming tomorrow. The coil I did manage to make lights up quickly from inside out with no hot spots. I have no complaints with the vapor just the lack of flavor and the nic rush after only a few short hits.
Its just an entire different way of vaping that's for sure. I like to vape frequently and with this type of setup all I can tolerate is maybe 3 short puff every 10 min. or so. Its just not enjoyable to me. If all I wanted was a quick nic fix then this would be perfect. I will keep experimenting with coils and wicking material. I am not giving up yet.

It just seems so illogical that using my normal 3ohm boge cartos, I cant go above 12W without it burning. Yet, with this 1.1ohm microcoil I can go up to 15W+ and it still doesn't burn. I thought I understood basic ohms law but I think I need to take a refresher.

It`s not that un logic. To get to 12 Watts with the Boge , you need 6V and you only need 4.2 with your micro. Probably to get your 1.1 Ohm coil you have been using a thick wire (28 Gauge? or thicker) These wires can handle a lot more power than your carto plus if there is something a KF is very good at it is wicking.

Maybe they named it Futura so we we can keep hoping that we will receive it in the future. Let's go ahead and rename the thread to, "Yawn... Futura - The dream mod that you may or may not receive communications about before you are so frustrated that you cancel your order." Un-fracking-real. Still no word from Nexgen. In the meantime I've put in a pre-order for a Hana Modz DNA30. If I don't hear from these guys by the end of the week I'll cancel the order and let my credit card company know not to allow any transactions from Nexgen. I wouldn't dream of doing this if I got some status updates.
