Hi! I'm not entirely new to e-cigs(though only recently got one that wasn't a mini cigarette style one) but I'm pretty new to a lot of things involved with devising your own anything with them. I recently(two weeks ago) switched from cigarettes to an Ego style battery, loaded up on flavors, and quickly got addicted to having fresh tanks for each flavor(after my roommates experience with putting skittles in the tank after having peanut butter in it, I'm a little paranoid). Unfortunately I find that a lot of flavors I like the taste of but some of them are kind of harsh... Like spend the next five minutes drinking water because your throat is completely dry all of a sudden harsh. I find this tends to be more of a problem with the mixes that have a higher vg content, though I'm not entirely certain at all that that's actually the problem(I've only tested at a couple of different stores). So I started researching to see how possible it might be for me to try mixing my own flavors and not only got a ton of information but found my way here. Ta daa!
Mostly I'm curious about how/where to find things to use as a flavor, whether or not PG or VG can be bought at local stores of some kind, and well... Whatever else I can manage to learn. I think mods are nifty, but I'm pretty happy with my ego batteries(I do have a spinner one, though it stays at 3.65 as I've found that to be the best place for it so I guess that may have been a silly purchase) though if I ever find one that hits my geek button hard enough, I'll buy it. I don't trust myself with making electronic anything, though. I'm fairly familiar with handling of hazardous materials but when it comes to things involving electricity, well... Let's just say I can't be trusted with a soldering iron(everything that can be soldered will be(which is why I'm not allowed to help build computers)).
Also, I am curious about these liquids I found at a smoke shop near me. They're apparently meant to flavor tobacco, but I'm curious if they can be used as flavoring when mixing up your own liquids. I'm not entirely certain I would want to try it, but if they turn out to be useful... Well, they're $1 each, so they could be interesting. Assuming they aren't death in a bottle of course, lol. And yes, I tried google. Apparently my Google Fu failed me there.
I did also read up on testing nicotine content, so that'll be a fun little science experiment all of it's own, but can you do it with flavored juices or only the unflavored base? I doubt I'd be able to test some of my flavors that I already have as they're particularly dark in color... But looking for more info on that. Mostly on accuracy and whether or not the chemicals would react to the flavorings or what have you.
I'm quite certain that I'll have a good number of questions later on before I attempt testing the actual theory, but for now this is what's immediately stuck in my brain. Thank you ^_^
