I was using a little sandpaper on the edges of my mini (silver) because within a few months the finish along the edges on the button side got pitted. Copper begins to show. That is not the interesting part. I used tape to not scratch the display. When I pilled the tape off, the display window popped off. No worry, it has like a rubber glue and it is easily placed back on. But, I got the idea of wet sanding that plastic bezel with fine paper to maybe make the display easier to see. The shiny layer came off like a powder. Then I did both sides of it and it came out clear.
