The V-IT kit is the latest offering from ipv. Earlier in the year I also reviewed their ReFi pod. The V-IT kit is a beautiful looking mod with its patterned detail and is powered by the advanced YiHi SX540 chipset. With multiple power modes, as well as memory modes the V-IT is packed full of features.

V-IT Tank
In the VIT kit, you also receive the V-IT sub ohm tank, that comes with two mesh coils. The V-IT mod has a beautifully textured finish that feels a little like rubber. On the back of the mod is the IPV imprinted logo. The Tank comes with a pre-installed 6ml bubble glass and in the box, you also get the 4ml tube glass, along with spare O-rings. The pre-installed coil has a resistance of 0.2ohms and is a kanthal mesh coil. The spare coil included in the box is a Ni80 mesh coil with a resistance of 0.1ohms. Both coils did take a tank or so to really break in the flavour. Flavour was ok, but I have had better. The coils aren’t that large so I imagine not as much surface area either, and the airflow of the V-IT tank could be less restrictive.
The V-IT mod is powered by dual 18650’s and has a bottom battery door with a locking mechanism. The mod is designed to fit comfortably in your hand, but it is a tall mod with a height of 92.5mm. The width of 35.9mm and a centred spring loaded 510 means the V-IT can accommodate large atomisers. The power button is located on the front of the mod, it’s not overly big but still comfortable to fire and easy to find. There’s are three buttons on the bottom of the mod, left and right selection and an enter button. Beneath the selection buttons is the micro USB port that can be used for firmware upgrades as well as charging. The V-IT offers balanced battery charging at 2A.
The V-IT mod comes with a range of functions thanks to the advanced YiHi SX540 chipset. Along with the usual modes for temperature control, the mod also has four different modes in variable wattage, soft, standard, powerful, powerful + as well as an additional mode called the SXi-Q-S1. This mode was a bit of a mystery at first but basically, it's similar to the custom curve mode we have on other mods. You can set different wattages at different intervals, which allow you ultimate control. Remembering all the different button combinations, and what does what was a little difficult at first, but the manual is very helpful and easy to understand.
Other advanced features of the V-IT mod is the ability to save your optimal setting in the memory of the mod. The memory is retained even after removing the batteries. One thing that I found slightly confusing was that while in variable wattage mode you still have the ability to adjust set what material your coil is made from, the only options are of course Ni200 Ti and SS316L along with Manual TCR. I wasn’t sure which mode to choose as the supplied coils that come with the tank don’t match any of these options. It would have been nice if they had included a TCR chart in the manual. You can also access a novice mode which only allows you to adjust wattage. IPV has also included bypass mode, so you can use the V-IT as a mechanical device.
The V-IT has a 1.3-inch colour TFT IPS screen, and two different display modes to choose from. You also have the ability to customise the mod with your own screensaver. There are 9 wallpapers that come pre-installed and you can choose between those or the default animated speed dial interface. When in wallpaper mode I found the writing to be difficult to read on the pre-installed wallpapers. In this mode, only basic information is displayed on the screen. A single battery indicator along with the current voltage of your batteries. A little icon indicated which stored setting you are using as M1-M5. On the bottom of the screen is your wattage, and beneath that, in small writing, you can see the resistance of your coil and the volts being drawn. Written in the tiniest writing above the resistance is the mode you are in soft, standard, powerful. powerful, or SXi-Q-S1.
Although I like the ability to use custom screensavers, in this mode the writing is just too small to be easily readable. The default speed dial mode is much easier to read, the only thing missing is the remaining voltage of your batteries. But, it is animated the little arm jumps up to the wattage you have set while in use. The front of the mod and screen is covered in black plastic, there are small metal hex screws on the top and bottom, I’m not sure if they are a design feature but they do detract from the overall sleek appearance of the mod.
The V-IT has a standby mode with a clock display which displays the time and date. You can power the mod off by accessing the menu and selecting system off. In the menu you can also adjust the date and time, temperature, units, the material of coil you are using, set your TCR, as well as an option for temperature compensation. Temperature compensation can be useful if you are vaping in an extremely hot or cold climate. In the menu, you will also find settings for standby time, brightness, and your wallpaper selection.
Pros

Bottom Line
The V-IT kit is a great looking kit, I really love the abstract printed design of the body that is available a range of colours. The included V-IT tank is ok, but I have definitely had better in terms of clouds and flavour. I do really like the resin drip tip that is included it’s thick and a nice height. The tank has a great capacity of 6ml, which if you are using the ni80 mesh coil you will go through a lot of juice. For around $60-$70 the kit is reasonably priced, especially for a mod that has a powerful YiHi chipset on board. It’s a decent mod, but I’m not huge on the user interface design, the writing is pretty small and the clarity of the fonts used could be better, however, it the V-IT does get points for having the ability to add your own wallpapers. If you are looking for a high-end powerful mod but you just don’t have the budget for a mod over $100 then this is a pretty good option. There’s no doubt the SX540 chip from YiHi is definitely powerful and has all the functionality you could possibly need.

Pros
- Spring-loaded centred 510 connection perfect for large atomisers
- The design and overall look and finish of the resin body are very appealing.
- The drip tip is really nice and feels comfortable to use
- The bottom battery door is very secure
- The fire button is placed in a comfortable location on the front, although it is a little small
- So many different modes this mod can handle just about anything.
- Powerful and capable of firing down to 0.05ohms and up to 200W
- The screen is really bright and the level can be adjusted, very easy to see even in direct light.
Cons
- The pre-installed .2 ohm coil didn’t last very long to me and I was getting a bit of a strange flavour from it. I wasn’t getting a whole heap of flavour from this tank although there were more clouds with the 0.1 ni80 mesh coil and I did get a better flavour.
- The screen looks nice but the size of the writing is very small and can be really hard to read particularly if you are using the screensaver option.
- The SX540 chip while powerful can be a little confusing, there are so many functions and combinations of buttons to press that I found it a little confusing.
- The tank is a little noisy, I feel that the airflow is a little too small and would have been better if they had included tripe airflow or made the holes bigger instead.
