Well my IPV3 Li doesn't have onboard charging. The ipv4 had it but it was removed because of problems. I'm not whether or not the 5 has it. My point being that P4Y has had a history of problems with their onboard dual battery charging so I wouldn't be surprised if this one doesn't have it.

Cheers,
Steve

Edit I just looked it up the IPV5's USB jack is for updates only. Not for charging.

Maybe I stand corrected. I've never owned a p4u mod before so I had no idea they're dual battery mods didn't have onboard charging.

I'm just guessing when it comes to the IPV6 based on the past models. Who knows they could include on-board charging on the 6. I don't use on-board charging for my 18650 mods (I just bring a spare set if I'm going to be out all day), so it didn't matter to me one way or the other. With my VT133's I don't even worry about that because a set lasts me easily over a day so I just change them in the morning and I'm good to go.

Cheers,
Steve

I do agree that they need to institute firmware upgrades instead of putting out new mods. Here's how I see it.

IPV Mini Good
IPV D2 Good (no buck/step down)
IPV D3 Good (80w with step down)
IPV3 Good (screw on battery door)
IPV 3-LI good (easier slide door/upgradeable to 200w)
IPV4 Flop (usb charging fail)
IPV4S good (no on board charger)
IPV5 good

I talk a lot about wanting a dual 18650 mod, but it's been pretty easy to get by with the Pico for out-and-about and the RX200 for home use. They're still the best single 18650 and triple 18650 mods on the market for their price, (imo). Anyway... the IPV6's function is as yet untested, but the looks of this mod are on friggin point! I may actually buy this one! :D

IPV6 is the route I'm going. Sigelei has yet to release a mod that has upgradable firmware.

Given that the IPV6 has a YiHi chip, the odds are good that whatever features P4U claims the mod has it will have them right out of the box. If issues are found then the upgradable firmware could save the device or add additional features.

It does look like P4U was taking some design clues from the 213 with the smaller and lighter chassis and materials.

Maybe they will ship to pre-order vendors on the 8th?
