Is 70% VG too much for Nautilus coils?

Only a month into vaping (no analogues for 3 weeks!) and yet another new toy: This time an istick 20 with a Mini Nautilus with steel tank atop. Trawling through the responses to a previous post of mine I gathered that Nautilus coils need a lot of priming before use. So I soaked the little holes on the coil with a bit more gusto and added four drops of a new untried juice into the top, and dry sucked it quite a few times. And let it sit for 20 minutes before taking a light vape at 7 watts. Ugh! Nasty flavour and its not the juice. Not like a burnt hit but a foul taste. Its a 70VG/30PG strawberry custard juice that's sweet and mild according to the youtube reviewers. I lowered the watts to 5 and took a light vape or two every half hour and then let it sit overnight. Slight improvement today but not much. All still at 5 watts. Lot of vapour though at that low power. If 70VG is too much for Nautilus coils, I don't want to fill my brand new unused Kabuki and try it on my P3. Or should I? Comments appreciated......

Although the iStick 20w has it's issues, the BVC coils should NOT have a problem.
However, it is worth pointing out that you can't lower the voltage of the iStick under the level of the battery. If your battery is fully charged, you'll get all 4.2 volts and an instant 10 watts (or whatever...).

I found 70% VG too much (quite a lot of Vape Munki liquid got wasted last year in mini Nautiluss) but many people seem to manage just fine.

Where is your liquid from? You can't always trust youtube reviews.

The liquid is Twelve Monkeys Congo Custard and I procured it from an internet vendor here in the UK. Your comment about the istick 20 makes sense. I thought it was putting out too much power for 5 watts and something was wrong with the mod. If a Vaping Master like you thinks 70 VG is too much for Nautilus coils, I'm junking the juice. Fantastic informative feedback. Thank you.

No prob's.

It's probably amazing liquid, so save it for another atomizer set-up.

Did it come from Vapeclub or UKecigstore? (One good, one bad..)

I run 70 - 80% VG in mine no prob at 17W. If you ever do burn a coil though, it's toast. It will never taste right again. There are lots of YouBoob vids out there for a horizontal rebuild on those coils. It works better with high VG juices than the factory build does.

Yup

BVC Nautilus coils i let soak in the tank for a few minutes and always lower wattage to start off , no issues . The iStick 20 watt set at low power, (as said) does not regulate correctly .

I vape 50/50 , high VG juices imo can give many tanks issues and their are now many tanks that are aimed at high VG vaping with much better juice flow .

The Nautilus is not one that had people vaping high VG juices in mind. Haven't tried it myself though but high VG vaping wasn't nearly as common a few years back as it is now .

It came from Vape Club. I'm curious about your comment, "one good, one bad". I've bought from both with no probs so far. Which is the good one? I'll hang on to the juice for the time being. I have an Aspire Triton 2 with both Clapton and 1.8 coils. I suppose 1.2 nicotine is too high for sub ohm-ing with the Claptons?

That's very relevant and useful, Herb. Thank you.

The Twelve Monkeys is just like syrup and way too sweet in my opinion, this will really gunk a coil quickly. I have 3/4 of a bottle of O-Rangz here that I will probably top up with straight PG to thin it out some and lessen the flavor intensity.

See post #414 to see what is really going on with the iStick 20 watt. Here's the table.

Vape club = Good.

The other... well, it's complicated.

I wouldn't want to patronise you about the way they do business.
Enough said. I get it. I went to their shop to ask a few questions. The internet and telephone experience is better. Reliable delivery service too. But the store experience is.........questionable. Anyway i have more gear than what I need. Except now I'm looking for something I can put my steel tanked Nauti Mini on and carry in my pocket. From the responses here, its clear the istick 20 was a bum buy. Any suggestions? Needs to be a mod not a battery shape. I have an Aspire K1 starter kit which is perfect for my pocket and surprisingly good. Just want a change but it has to be small and show power setting and battery life.

Thank you for taking the trouble to send me this. What a wonderful community this is! My coil is showing 1.9 ohms on the istick 20. And I know all the new Nautis come with 1.8 coils loaded. I'll switch to 1.6 coils and fill with 50/50 juice and start a new coil at 5W. Hopefully shouldn't burn out the coil. My setup might still be usable.

I've used 50/50 |(Space Jam) in my nautilus mini at 16-20 W and it's fine, but I would not really expect it to handle 70VG or higher well.

Dn't junk the juice, just buy some PG based juice similar in flavour to thin it out! I have some 13th Floor Elevapor's 'Django ' which I just found is for dripping. I'm worried even my Subtank Nano with the massive, wide OCC wicking holes might not handle it.

It is an RY4 kind of flavour and I have 25ml of Hangsen 80PG RY4, if the Django is too thik, I'll mix it 70/30 with the cheaper juice. Should be okay and will make for cheaper juice per ml! :)

Well not really familar with the set ups you already have but I am just wondering why you do not want any type of a box mod? Me myself I did not want a bunch of things kicking around so I bought a 150 watt box mod. It still fits perfectly in my hoodie pocket and that way I can vape a huge range of E Juice without any problems. I can also pick just about any tank out there and throw it on. I went with a Sigelei 150 TC and its my all day buddy. I have a bit of a reaction to PG so I always vape higher VG juices.
