With regards to the madvapes tanks, I now own 5 of them. If you want to use their tanks, you have two choices, either you can use the smoktech cartos (flanged dual coils) that are pre-punched with one hole, or if you're set on boge cartos (single coil), you can use a pipe cutter to cut the tank down to the appropriate length and go that route, instead. There is also the option of the chibi tank from parkes vaping HV Chibi Tank Mod (boge 3.0) that is short enough already to use a boge carto or you can get the lil mama tank from big daddy vapor BDV Lil' Mama 3ml Tanks : Big Daddy Vapor that will also allow use of the shorter cartos. Something about the madvapes tanks (or any tank, for that matter), is if you get a broken o ring, you have to either go on a wild goose chase to find replacements or buy a new tank. For that reason, I'm going to be doing my own tank mods from syringes.
It really depends on what cartos you want to use. If you're good with smoktech dual coils, any 5ml tank will work and hold more juice. If you want to use boge single coils, you're limited to the shorter 3 mil tanks.
Something else to consider, there are kanger cartos (singe coil) in the xl length that will fit the 5 mil tanks but I've never tried them.
My experience with the smoktech tank cartos is that the hole is just fine. I vape 100% VG juices (alien visions) in them and they do require a little bit of dry pulling to get the cartos to refill but it isn't a big deal, as long as you take a few dry pulls now and again to keep the carto full, it is fine. I also have a 100% PG juice that I vape frequently and the carto refills on its own.
