I just quit a 2 pack a day habit back in july of this year, everything i tried before didnt work. I like the e cig as it worked for me like a charm.
A friend of mine went to a doctor yesterday, a heart speicalist, and the doctor told him that the e juice is very very bad for you and if he keeps vaping he will get throat cancer and die...period !
I have searched the internet for hours on end, and i have not found one case or even a claim that says it will give you throat cancer.....most of what i found was it wasnt FDA approved, which who gives a damn.....all i know is it works, but now im a little concerned....anybody out there heard such claims or know of anybody who has had any health problems related to vaping ?

My personal opinion is that it is not harmful for the short term anyways. People out there that have been vaping since the start have not started to keel over yet anyways. Nicotine by itself has not been found to cause cancer there have been studies on it. You get 4000 other chemicals when you smoke a cigarette quite a few of those are known to cause cancer. I think that doctor needs to read up on what Nicotine does. There are some minor side effects to vaping that some people get but nothing major that i have heard of. Bad thing about it is when people start vaping any heath issues are almost always automatically thought of as being caused by vaping. When most of the time it is a direct result of just being alive and breathing.

Sounds like an ignorant doctor, to me.

The New Zealand health study (which is the only study so far that has been conducted with good scientific standards) found no carcinogens in e-juice at all.

Previous studies on inhaled vaporized medicines suggest that there is no significant long-term risk from inhaling vapor.

There are no long-term studies specifically on e-juice yet, since it hasn't been around long enough, but what studies we have so far, and all other relevant studies ever conducted, suggest that vaporized PG and VG is fairly harmless.

Use of nicotine over long periods may cause slight stress on the heart - just like drinking coffee does. In an otherwise healthy person, this risk is minimal.

Also, in a person with a compromised immune system, there is inconclusive evidence that the risk of respiratory irritation and infection may be slightly increased.

But these are only risks to people who are already sick, or are extremely old or young.

And given that we have vapers who have COPD and have increased their lung function since they started vaping, the risk even for them is small.

E-juice, from everything we know, is quite safe.

Unless I'm badly mistaken, the throat hit you get is from the pepper content added to the juice in the recipe. If you concentrate on the sensation, it becomes apparent. I get lots more throat hit with the Ego Mega than I do with the 510 using the same juice. I can still taste the peppery flavor in the throat and soft tissues of the mouth. Alcohol is know to be a throat hit enhancer in juices as well as higher nic content.

Are they Harmful?

E-Cigs:
PG
VG
Nic
Flavoring (most of the time candy flavors)

Cigarettes (Check Link) :
Cigarette Ingredient List

599 chemicals in a cigarette which are quote FDA approved end quote... these 599 chemicals produce over 4000 chemicals when burned.

Even if they found 1 harmful chemical in E-Cigs that kinda still is a 1 sided fight on which is better for you. :)

The FDA claims they found four carcinogens. Carcinogens are bad.

That being said, cigarettes are bad for you. And since I started vaping my 510, I havent touched a cigarette.

What we know is that we know almost nothing about e cigs. The truth is that doctor doesnt have a clue either. The few studies that have been done are contradictory. Some say no carcinogens, the fda says yes there are.

So lets all be honest here, we DON'T KNOW. Simple as that.

What we DO KNOW is that since switching to vaping from smoking, we feel better, we breathe better, we can climb stairs and not be out of breath, We don't weeze while we sleep anymore, and while we don't know if vaping causes cancer, we DO KNOW that smoking cigarettes DOES cause cancer. Cigarettes contains polonium 210, which we all heard about when that Russian defector, Alexander Litvinenko, was poisoned with it. THAT is what the FDA is not allowed to ban!

So yeah, we don't know if its bad for us, but it definitely can't be as bad as cigarettes.

Now what are we going to do about our food supply?

Your Welcome ,

I did like at the end how he was saying Tobacco company lobbyist and the taxes are why we are seeing the FDA and states trying to jump on E-cigs. I been saying that for awhile

I liked that too. People who don't smoke probably wouldn't bother to think about that as a possible motivation. I think you're right on, Java.

I had COPD and high blood pressure. The first is gone and my doctor has taken me off one of my meds for the latter. My circulation has improved----MY HEARING HAS IMPROVED.
My doctor found vaping very interesting---enough he went to the trouble of dragging out another doctor so I could show my e-cig to him. He also thinks it's fantastic that I don't smoke anymore.
Sounds like the doctor is an alarmist---> one who probably is listening to all the stuff the FDA or other anti organizations are putting out there and didn't do any research of his own.
It's been a year and a half since I've had an analog and I'm still alive.

remember... it's a license to "practice medicine". they don't have all of the answers. i look at it this way... smoking would almost certainly kill me; vaping probably won't. i'd rather play the odds.
"Practice is the key word there because they will never get it perfect...

Pretty much everything we are exposed to these days is harmful.... sun, caffeine, smoking, vaping, sugar, fructose, calories, sodium, smog, germs, saturated fats... heck, even the water we drink can sometimes harm us! My point being, if you worry about every little thing that you do during our day is going to harm you, you'd live a miserable life in a friggin' bubble! Live life, enjoy every moment you're here, do what makes you feel good (unless it's illegal, then you're on your own) and don't worry about what others say, do or think! There's going to be warnings for everything we do but we'll do them anyway! Big brother has gotten to big for my liking and he can go suck an egg... maybe he'll get one of those eggs that's tainted with salmonella???
