Is it just me or did I progress pretty quick?

I have to ask. What does running a coil below 1 ohm have to do with knowledge of vaping?

This. What you said gave us no idea at all of how much you've progressed. What battery are you using? Do you test with an ohm checker that has a 510 connection or use a multimeter? What resistance coils are you using and how many amps does your build pull? How do you know for sure that your battery can handle it? How often do you check your voltage to make sure you're not over discharging? How do you carry spare batteries?

These are the things that will signify progress. Any idiot can watch a YouTube video and wrap a sub ohm coil. It's not safe, but that doesn't seem to stop them. Progress is knowledge and judgement. If you've progressed quickly, you can answer the questions above immediately and without thinking about them. If you can't, you shouldn't be vaping sub ohm coils until you can, because you don't know the things you need to know in order to sub ohm safely.

Without proper knowledge, sub ohming is dangerous.

Did I progress too fast? Hated vaping at first. Got a mod, liked it better. Got a few different tanks at 2.4 ohms. Got wire and made coils (multimeter and atty chrcker). Found out I don't like Sub ohm. Get a good, satisfying vape at 1.2 to 1.4 ohms. Wife likes 2+ ohms. Learned to make those. We are both happy.

I don't think I went to fast. I like learning. Learned what works and am happy. What more could you ask for?

dont flatter yourself..just be safe.

I saw you on here in posts I read before I registered. You have a good taste in music.

But I agree, safety is definitely a concern if someone is prone to using sub ohm builds etc. Progression is all relative as well. Some people will never use sub ohm builds or RDAs for that matter. I've been happy with my Kayfun.

I think it varies with the person how fast one progresses through levels of vaping hardware, and their reasons also vary. For my part I was after what was for me a satisfying vape that would keep me off the cigs. I got there in about 5 weeks, after going through the eGo rigs and the Protank. I ended up with a mech and RBA, did my homework on that setup, learned to make wicks and coils, got the right batteries, and the means to make sure of my resistance and not have hard shorts. I didn't find any of this difficult, instead it was quite an interesting adventure. I ended up vaping at .7 ohm, because that's where my personal sweet spot was.

But even with my mech and RBA I wasn't there yet. I got there when I started making my own juice. Then I had arrived. I came up with a recipe that for me is perfect and I'm very happy with where I am with my vaping. At the same time my best friend and roommate still uses cigalikes almost a year after we both got into vaping and off the cigs. He's less happy with those now as they don't perform so well for him. What he likes about them is that he can slip them into his shirt pocket and carry them easily.

Well nothing vapes like a well set up RBA, so what I did was give him one of mine on one of my old mechs to use at home, and I maintain that for him, supplying the juice coils batteries and wicks. He totally loves it, but he'll never learn how to build one himself, or take it with him out of the house.
