Is it just me or does it seem like there are more negative articles about vaping every day?

Negative articles sell. You don't see many positive articles out there on anything.

Yeah, it's pretty much a big combination of this as well as the cigarette lobbyists pulling as many strings as they can to make vaping seem like a scary and dangerous hobby, they're probably ....ting themselves at Phillip Morris and RJ Reynolds over the growing adoption of e-cigs.

I'd get used to it. While e-cigs may have helped some of us quit smoking cigarettes, it's still a form of drug use. Even if it's beneficial, not harmful, or awesome in some way, people who are against public drug use will always find something to hate about e-cigs. And the fact that it's a mystery to so many people, what it is, what it does, how it makes people feel - people jump to conclusions - especially when they see underage kids blowing big clouds. It looks like they're doing drugs.

things are going to get a lot more negative, before they get better. And probably taxed to the hilt, regulated, and banned in public areas. But that's how we roll in the US.

Phillip Morris is buying up e-cig companies - it's only the beginning. Soon enough they'll have that market cornered as well.

technically buy saying drug use you may be correct.
esthetically i prefer to say that i imbide in the use
of nicotine. much the same as i imbide in the use
of caffeine and alcohol.
drug user would be more of an ANTZ phraseology
to attach all the emotional baggage and mental
imagery that goes with it.

Eye opener, isn't it? Journalists have the one and only constitutionally protected profession. With that, they have an ethical obligation to do the job, tell the truth, and be thorough... They sold the people out long ago for ideas like "ratings" and for the revenue generated by advertizing. They turned on the people and most folks didn't even notice.

Once upon a time, I was a journalism major at a college in a very liberal town... It took me about 2/3 of a semester to realize they were not teaching the sort of journalism I read about in books like "The Camera Never Blinks" by Dan Rather. They were teaching activism and greed... Then a mere 20 years later, Dan Rather himself got caught forging and falsifying documents for a "news" story. My disillusionment with the corrupt press was complete.

Never trust them. If something is important to you, find out for yourself. Nine times out of ten, you have the same rights to access to the same information they "report" about... Most medical and scientific studies are published on the websites of the colleges and/or organizations that did them. Nearly every piece of legislation gets published on senate.gov or on the websites of whatever State legislature... and you have every right as a citizen to request hard copies of any legislation or proposed legislation. -- Most importantly, when you *do* find out for yourself and catch a "journalist" in a lie, call them out for it. Write letters to the editor.. leave comments on web sites.. tell folks the truth you discover on forums... etc etc etc. Never trust them and always hold them publicly responsible when they are lazy or when they lie. It is the only way we, the people, will ever get the "free press" back on our side and back to work seeking the truth.

Unfortunately, Six, not only we should not believe "journalists", but we shouldn't believe the CDC, FDA, EPA, ALA, ACA, and WHO amongst others or our governmental representatives of any stripe. The only saving grace in these times is that we have quick and easy access of information IF we do the research.......but it's so easy not to. :(

Thank you, DrMA, for posting those links. :) I do, I do read over in that vacinity for news; but the good news is so few and far between that I have to limit my viewing else the ol' stomach gets tied up in knots at the covert evilness that''s going on in our supposed higher institutions. I already take medication for blood pressure! The only thing that calms me down are the extremely intelligent people who post on those threads who know where to search and keep me informed. Am fortunate to have that resource. Thank you very much, DrMA. ;)
