Is it just me

Even though they are overpriced and/or junk, they still help to get the word out so you can't knock them for that. The eGo
Twist is a good unit and I'm sure you'll be happy with it.

I love my twist. Just stocked up on some more of them. Virgin Vapor has genuine joyetech twists starting at 17.99 this week only.

I started with a V2cigs starter kit from Groupon. It was normally $79, and they offered it for $24 including shipping. So I figured what the hell. It actually works pretty good for what it is. They claim that the cigarette-sized battery (250mAh) puts out 4.2 Volts. It had decent amounts of vapor. (Obviously the biggest downfall was having to recharge the batteries frequently....)

I tried to start on the relatively cheap side. We all want a good deal. Some do better research an know different. I did a half A amount of research so I got a not too shabby fist rig but I didn't get a spare battery and I got a atty that was too hard to fill and to low a resistance/ohms. So i fried to of the attys from shear stupidity. To high a voltage.
I then spent what I should have the first time and got a better rig. Good part is I can still use the first as a back up and I can maybe help someone to better decide on what they should buy and they learn from my mistake.
Good news is People like to stick their toe in the water before they jump into the pool. Must be human nature.
OH everybody has a budget so we compromise. Lucky for me I had a windfall before and could upgrade.

I'm still using my 650mah pt setup with a vision CE5 for almost a year now. I bought it from a friend who is dealing here in our office. Not bad for Php1200 (roughly around $30). During that time, lavatubes are priced at around Php3500-Php4500 so it was definitely out of the question. After some research and test trials, now I want my own lavatube. LOL! I think we all start with kiosk passthoughs then we somewhat "ascend" to the better setups. It's a nice introduction to vaping. Although it would be great if you could do enough research first before buying one.

Mall kiosk it what introduced me to ecigs too. It was the week before Christmas and I tried the one at the mall but luckily couldn't afford to spend that much right before xmas so i too found ECF and bought my hubby and i an Ego T and then a Kgo kit and luckily saved a ton of money. I have long since moved on from those way on. Now i just can't seem to stop finding cool new things to try. Vaping becomes a hobby and a lifestyle for many once you start getting into it. It it great having so many other vapers to communicate with here on ECf since I do not know 1 vaper here locally. Welcome to Vaping and ECF. :)

I have two friends who gave up smoking for vaping. I tried theirs once, some kiwi fruit flavor juice was loaded, and wanted one. I went the cheap route and bought the NJOY one since there was no shop local to me and the internet searches were confusing and overwhelming. That NJOY worked fine, I guess, but the taste was gross. I went to the site my friend referred me to, but it was for people who knew what they were doing, not a vape dumdum like me, so it was some time before I got around to doing the research and now here I am.
I know it is growing in popularity but wish more brick and mortar stores carried these. i would have made the jump a lot sooner.

bought a couple disposables that were garbage. then i bought a 'green smart living' kit from a smoke shop for $19.99 that was decent. got a couple 5pack carto refills for that at $12.99 each. it wasn't the best deal but all in all it only cost me $50 with tax for a battery, a usb charger and 12 cartos and it was enough to make me a convert. after that i got a volt and am very happy with it. i'll probably just stick to volt from here on out especially since they're making better batteries now. i dont have much interest in vv or mods, i'd rather keep it simple. i even like their juice.

I too did 1/2 research. A friend had an ego, but I didn't want something so big. I wanted a "cigarette" battery. Foolish, but it did get me to stop.

I didn't feel ripped off though. Started with a V2 starter kit. I was using them for a couple of weeks and stopped analogs. By that time I was reading this forum and other places, and seeing that what I thought I wanted was wrong!

I'm using an ego twist, and I'm loving it. The V2 stuff is good for emergencies, but I don't see myself going back to it that often.

No need to feel bad though, obviously there are many in the same boat as you. I wish my friend had spelled out what the ego was before I went off on my own.

I bought a cheap 510 starter kit (knock-off, no name) and it died within 3-4 days - i'm 3 weeks in now and I've got a couple of twists, some regular ego's, vivi nova, cisco LR atties, T2 tanks....I found that within my first week the only times I was having trouble not smoking was when my gear was failing me. I could have saved a ton of $ if I knew what to get right off the bat. Pretty quick learning curve, and ECF saved me!

It seems like a lot of people (including me) either bought a real cheap kit or got screwed over by a mall kiosk. I spent 50 on a crappy kit from a mall kiosk(but it's holding me over till I get my ego twist) before I found this site and all this info. I just wish there was a local store around me
My very first e-cig experience is from a local tobacco shop that I bought for $23. It comes with nasty tobacco flavored pre-filled cartos sold separately. Then the tobacco shop owner recommended this other kit sold at his store for $60. The pre-filled tobacco or menthol cartos taste a lot better but only lasts for 2 days and not refillable (they're not standard 510 cartos). One of the batteries died after 1 week.

Then I found ECF, and ordered my KGO. Now I'm happy with my vaping :) .

there's probably a lot of money in selling junk products. even if the customer never buys again. 20% of the country smokes, half of them have or will try an ecig, nearly all those who have or will try an ecig first tried or will try a garbage one due to lack of knowledge.

350million x 20% x 50% x 80% x $20 = $560million

Yes indeed, there is a lot of money to be made in junk products.
And that's not even counting the ones who find success and keep buying without knowing any better.

I bought a 510 PCC kit back in 2009 but was turned off when it came time to replace my atties cause they were like 10-11 a pop and being a college student decided beer was better. Second time around in june this year I bought a blu, I knew about mods but wanted to see if it would help me ween off the parliaments. It worked, and while it wasn't the best they do have some tasty flavors and the look is chic. However I wouldn't go back now that I have my Lambo and Roughstack.

It might surprise you but there are tons of people who are extremely happy with the cig-a-likes. I actually still prefer my Blu's for general everyday use. I love the form factor, the PCC rocks and there is no muss no fuss to it. Those little 226 maH batteries run at 3.7 to 4.2 volts. The cartomizers are reasonably priced if you buy them online 4 packs or more. They use VG juice, which I need. Plus, I refill those cartomizers several times. They are the best cartomizers, as far as I'm concerned. The battery charge will last 2 to 4 hours depending on normal smoking habits. Chain vaping they of course only last about 45 minutes, but chain vaping on a 650 twist only lasts a couple hours and chain vaping on a 1000 twist only lasts me about 3.5 hours. There is actually a post or two around here somewhere that a lot of folks are now just raving on and on about buying the new ego 250 and 350 maH batteries and the SD key chain battery, using them with shorty cartomizers. Not much difference in my mind.

I had occasional issues with the ppc, some days i would get 6 charges out of it, others only 2 or 3. I love the shorty carto's, and i'd buy them or Boge's before paying the premium for the prefilled, as much as I like the flavors there are many comparable out there. If the 510s dont fit how you like, the 306's are the same size. I do still occasionally use the blu, but chain vaping I get maybe 30 minutes out of them. I always found that they died before the end of my lunch break. I still respect the product and the fact they bring people to vaping, but I would take a 250 or 350 before i'd go straight back to the blu. Do you happen to have a link to the keychain charger i'd love to see that.
