Is it just my e-liquid or...

Hey everyone, first off I just want to thank this forum for really helping me wrap my head around the electronic cigarette world, and assist me with buying my first PV, an HS Echo DC, which I am so far enjoying the heck out of.

I purchased the starter kit from nwvapors, which went through great by the way, it's like $40 on their site. I also got some vanilla e-liquid as well as the complimentary cowboy tobacco e-liquid.

The vapor is great, however most people I am near who don't smoke are very turned off by the smell, and the thick vapor in a room hurts my dad's eyes.

Is this just how it is? Or are there other e-liquids/juices I can use that will be less offensive to those around me?

Thanks!

Hi and Welcome!!!

I have only had one flavor that others didnt seem to like the smell of and that was Honey Bees from Digital Cigz, juice tasted like honey nut cherios but the vaper smelled like strong flowers, like heavy pollen smell (not sure if that makes sense, best way I can describe it). Thing is I couldn't really smell what they were smelling and sometimes the vapor smells nothing like the juice does in the bottle. Thats the only flavor thats ever happened to me with and I have been through a lot of flavors. Bottom line is the smell of a flavor could bother one person and not another, its hard to say what wont bother who, but think its just that flavor and you probably will rarely run into that problem. (unless you get Honey Beez :D)

As for the vapor irritating your fathers eyes, I myself have never heard of that before, doesnt mean that its not possible. Maybe someone else has had the same experience and can give you some insight into that. The only thing that I can think of is that your father might possibly be allergic to PG but wouldn't think the vapor could cause a reaction or it could just be something in that particular flavor. Wish I could give you more to go on with that one but hopefully someone here can give you something more definitive.

Hope this Helps some and Good Luck!!

WOW! thanks for all the replies guys, I love becoming a part of such an active and helpful forum community.

As for my dad, he's just sensitive to stuff like that, and I was puffing it in a small room with him in it. And then later on, I was at a bar and I overheard these chicks near me saying that they didn't like whatever they were smelling and that it was like a bad syrup-y smell.

sighh...perhaps it's my juice. I am vaping a mix of %20 classic vanilla and %80 cowboy tobacco, both from nwvapors. They taste and hit great. However after all I've heard, I just ordered some sweetener, unflavored, and a butterscotch caramel cheescake from Mrs. T's Bakery. sorry sorry i know, this isn't the juice forum...I'm just not allowed to post there yet

Hmmm.....some people are hyper sensitive....to anything...even the smell of soap or roses:) Your father may be PG allergic as allready mentioned (dryness of skin, and the thin membranes in the nose occurs with vapers who cant tollerate PG)
Besides this....I have had a few people tell med my e-cig stinks !!!!! those were stinky cigaret smokers !!!
And some who were affraid of the vapour  I have great vapour with my VG liquids :vapor:
In some cases...I am convinced that the psykological effect of watching someone vape....and enjoying it ....makes certain personalities feel offended....dont worry:) you dont wanna know those people anyway...sooo vape on at the bar:toast:

I honestly can agree with you...some people almost resent the fact and feel like I'm not fully quitting because of the nicotine...if these people weren't so close to me it would be a lot easier to shrug off... but..well...I still do anyway. ;-):vapor:

I believe your dad could definitely have a hyper sensitivity towards something in the juice. Could be something in the particular juices you are using so you can try some juices from other vendors to see if the condition persists. Either way it's an easy fix - don't vape around him or exhale into a balloon.

As for the others - they are most likely just raining on your vape parade. Vapor has a very faint smell - some flavors more than others but very faint and I love the smell when I can smell it - other non analog users seem to comment positively on it as well when they notice a scent.

Anyway keep doing what works best for you and never be discouraged by others ignorance.

Vape On!

When you can see the vapor lingering in the air there is more there than just water vapor. Some people can be sensitive to the vg & pg that we exhale. While that vapor is not a health risk, it can be a nuisance to others, and there is nothing wrong with being a good ambassador of the vaping community.
Many flavors have a precipitable odor, and not everyone will like the same smell. My wife doesn't like some of my tobacco flavors, but I can't vape my Buttered Popcorn without her making herself a bowl of popcorn.

Maybe you're Dad is sensitive to the PG? If PG is the problem you could always replace all or some of the PG with distilled water or PGA- in very small amounts. Sometimes when I go out I use the unflavored nic juice to avoid attracting attention. Other times I bring a specific juice along because the person/ s I'm visiting enjoys it. My wife doesn't like the Tobacco juices (non smoker) which I LOVE so, when she's home, I switch to something she enjoys...or if I really want to vape the tobacco I go outside.
    Good Luck.
