That center post looks discolored due to heat. Hard to say if that heat is what caused the lower insulator to melt causing a short situation or if the insulator was already damaged causing a short situation which then caused the heat that discolored the center post. Either way its highly likely the center post insulator is damaged now and causing the readings you are getting.

Is it possible to fix that at all? Can the center post even be removed?

Don't believe so. On my stillaire clone the pin seems to be press-fitted, although to be honest I have never tried to take it apart.

The center post is usually held in place by the 510 connection screw. Try unscrewing the 510 pin and the post should come off. then take a look at the insulators. see if they look melted or deformed. fat daddy vapes sells cut to fit delrin blanks to replace damaged insulators. good luck

Yes, MXM is right, if there are screwdriver slots on the center pin in the atty connector - hold on to the center post from above (to keep it from spinning) while unscrewing the center pin from the atty connector.
Unfortunately my clone does not have slots cut in the bottom, so theres no way to unscrew it, but if yours does - give it a go as the atty is unusable at this point anyway.

edit: now i see your pic and yours has a similar setup as mine - you could try grabbing the center pin on the 510 side with a pair of vice-grips or similar and spin the center post on the deck side to see if that works but you risk messing up the 510 center pin with the vice grips that way.

And I'm really glad I found this out the easy way (ohm reader) as opposed to the hard way (trip to the ER)...

I think it's time to get my Tobh clone drilled out... and save up for a Raiju (which will probably also end up getting drilled)...

Opps, looks like that one is pressed in. Since carbon is a conductor try cleaning around the center post with alcohol. since it is toast you could try pressing it back out. Place a small socket over the 510 connector, then put the socket on the table. Use a screw driver to push the post into the socket. After it starts moving down remove the screw and pull the pin out from the bottom.

Maybe I will do this at some point, but since it's effectively dead, it's not a priority. But it has taught me something. I don't like that "pressed in" thing. They should be screwed in, so stuff like this can be fixed.
