is my battery unsafe?

Quick note, I apologize if this is the wrong thread

here's my problem, I have a hcigar tree of life clone with a .21 duel super nano 26g build in an igo w and two Sony vtc4's. (will post pics in next post) every now and then i get a hotspot on my mod, the fire button. After firing, pretty much instantaneously the button scorched, the tree of lifes vent holes are at the bottom of the mod near the lock ring, so maybe the heats coming from inside rather then the mod itself? I decided it must be battery related cuz I've noticed it only happens with one of my two batteries. Does this mean this battery is kaput?

This is the battery in question its wrapped with electrical tape cuz the heat shrink wrap ripped a little from my charger

sounds like a short to me. I would not use that battery.

I havnt been using the battery since I re rapped it and tested it again

If you were using the battery as it looks in the picture, I would say that the battery is making contact somewhere it should not be due to the missing wrap, your short circuit and it's heating up the switch. That is my theory anyway, I could be wrong.

What you need to do with that battery is replace the heatshrink cover that your charger ripped. Here's some from DealExtreme. And here's a tutorial on re-wrapping a battery.

I would also fix the charger
