Hi folks.

Not too long ago I purchased a Joye Ego from litecigusa.net. I later heard that there were knock-offs out there... and last night it occurred to me... I don't know what a genuine eGo is supposed to look like, and I have no idea how reputable the company is I bought it from... therefor, how can I possibly know for sure if I got what I paid for, a genuine joyetech product. Is there a way you can tell? The thing seems to work fine (except a DOA battery which was replaced). I have no complaints, I just want to know if this thing is the real deal. How can I tell? Thanks in advance...

Silver band, smoke colored button with white LED. Says eGo on the box in the bottom right corner (eGo is shiny silver), comes with black eGo instruction foldout and crappy black carrying case... I'd say it is a real eGo.

Thanks, folks. That sets my mind at ease. It did come in the eGo box, with the black instruction booklet and the whole bit. Now I'm confident that I've got the real deal. But if it wasn't the real thing, even though it works fine, it would be a big deal to me, because I ordered and paid for the 'real' thing, therefor I should receive the real thing. Right? Anyway, I think it's genuine now, it works, and I'm happy.

Thank you all for responding. Vape on! :)

Thats a bummer. Sorry that happened to you. Mine do have that rubbery feel, some people don't like I guess, but I do. It feels pretty cool... I'm glad I ordered from litecig... I'll bet there are all kinds of people out there ordering eGo's from the wrong place and getting knock-offs. It's really sad that some people's greed drives them to rip other people off by selling them fake merchandise. It just aint cool.

I love the finish on the eGo, I know it stays put in my hand, I'm not dropping it all the time, like I was with the 901. When I've ordered parts, I only order from websites that specify that they are selling the Joye eGo, same with 510 attys, and I'm pretty sure what I have is the real thing.

Yeah, it's nice to get what you actually order, and I am now confident that I have the real thing. The kit had a DOA battery, and I received the wrong adapter(I needed and eGo batt to VK carto adapter), but litecig took care of it right away. So far, so good litecig...

V4L has taken good care of me also...

I definitely agree with you. You should get what you think you're paying for and what you were told you would get. Sometimes though I think some people get freaked out about buying anything other than genuine Joyetech stuff. But a lot of it is really good and sometimes better than Joye stuff. Like I said my Riva is awesome and was cheaper. It doesn't have the nice finish the eGo has but it does has a slightly longer battery and I like the rubber button on it better than the eGo button. But that's just personal preference. Also the Boge cartomizers are better than the Joye cartomizers IMO.

Well honestly though, it probably is, but even if it isn't what would be the big deal if it works? I love my Riva for instance.

It's OK to buy a Riva, they aren't bad. It's not OK, though, to buy and pay for an eGo and to recieve a Riva (or much worse). If I want a Riva, I buy one. If I buy an eGo, there'd better be one in the box.

I think my first eGo kit was a knock-off. The battery doesn't have that rubbery feel to it like my LiteCigUSA eGo's do.

The very first batch of eGos didn't have the rubber coating. I got mine in early March and it was one of the last non-rubber; a week later I got another battery and that one was coated already.

BTW, eGos:

Should at least help to seperate it from the other eGo-class PVs. Of course, allegedly there are 1:1-copies on the market … :(

What about the button? My first batch of eGo's buttons have a blue light while my LiteCigUSA's have a white one.

I'm not rich, so I'm not above trying less expensive 'knock-off' items(for example, I always get the huge bags of generic cereals at Wal-Mart, 'Cocoa-Dino-Bites' instead of 'Cocoa COPYRIGHTDMCA' lol). I just wanted to be certain I had gotten what I paid for, you know? I don't like being suckered.

I heard the same thing about those Boge cartos, I'm gonna order some soon... those little cartridges that come with the the eGo kit, well they just plain suck. I found a mod where you take out the filler, fill the cart with juice, then put a little 'plug' of filler material back in, and that makes 'em way better, but they still pretty much suck compared to the KR808 cartos I use on my Vapor King.

To add to the confusion only the black, white and red (and maybe pink?) joyetech egos come with the rubber coating. There titanium, steel, blue and green do not. Also an ego may be made by Joyetech but Janty as Joyetech sales to a lot of companys directly and some, like Totally Wicked's Tornado, are guinine joye egos, but are renamed.
