I don't really Know if Sub-Ohm vaping is the New Norm? Or really Care to be Honest. I Build and set Wattages to what I Like with a given tank.

If someone likes the Hit they get from a Low Ohm Build, that's Great. Or if they like Higher Ohms, that's Great Also.

I say Run the way you Want. Even if that is Not the Direction that most of the Herd is Running.
Perfect.

"Sub ohm" is just a silly name for something that at some point meant something - as in how much power one was pulling from ones batteries. Something which wasn't really that much by today's standards.

Nowadays, with regulated mods that pull more power than anyone dared, back when the term was phrased, "sub ohm" is just a meaningless name sometimes used as a misunderstood synonym of "cool bro!".

IMO what ever works for you is the best way to Vape! MTL, Direct inhale,BF'ing, Tanks, Dripper, Sub ohm or not.
Regulated, Mechanical, none of it matters. There are many ways to Vape and many people who enjoy their way of Vaping. There is no right or wrong ,normal or not. What ever works for you is the Best Way!

Numbers alone ( ohms, watts, etc. ) only tell part of the story.

Ghetto blasters got marketed with insane high wattages on rather dinky speakers. Me ole trusted Kenwood had a nominal 400 watts, but cranking it up halfway only sent the window panes flying...

That's the secret of a good vape :
Finding the right ( for your very own individual taste ) balance between mod, atty, powersettings AND juice.

There are just so many parameters that can be tweaked every which way that I wouldn't even begin contemplating something like a 'norm'. Maybe that's one factor pi**ing off the regulators too : Cigs can be 'normed', a homogenized product for a homogenized mass of consumers.
Vaping : Nearly limitless possibilities towards individuality.

Sure, manufacturers would like you to hop onto every bandwagon they're rolling out their doors. But you don't have to. If you're fine with an 2.5 ohm CE5 or 0.15 ohm multi-coil customs job, who's to keep you from continuing vaping it?

If it ain't broke...

The higher ohm tanks/clearomizers are not produced as much anymore as the industry changes towards the hobbyist need. But, the older ones are still around and often on sale or at lower prices.

I like watching New releases -Looking in China reveals the most detail.
New EGO style devices are released almost weekly.
Mid-power small Box mods
Above ohm tankscoils
Mild updates on time tested small tanks that last as long for a Tootler as any Sub-ohm Tank with 3x volume.

We see what we want.
We Notice Sub-ohm Vapers more due to the Vapor Trial. :vapor:

Resellers attempt to promote to the highest Profit, repeat purchasing crowd. Smart shops also cover the intro lines for new Vapers.

It is for me, but then again I vape a mech and it delivers the vape I enjoy that keeps me from smoking. All this talk about subohming to be or look cool is ridiculous to me. Lets face it if you think what you're vaping is going to somehow make you cooler you're losing that battle already.:lol:

You are incorrect sir! Looking cool (or "presenting") is important in many cultures and species and is not considered losing. Looking cool often leads to mating privileges. In the avian world, it's common for bird to have and display elaborate plumage that they use to attract mates and warn of territory encroachment. Some species of ape develop colorful muzzles and/or hind quarters in order to "look cool" (Bringing new meaning to the phrase "Baby got back"). Rams look cool by displaying the best horns and out ramming other rams. Amongst humans, the trend continues. Among the younger nouveau riche uber douchery sets, flashy cars are often parked talking up multiple spaces in an effort to look cool (which can actually be counter productive. I think any car looks less cool with my boots marks on the hood from climbing up on it to defecate on it for taking up too many spots). In the Ghetto, hats with stickers still on them are worn in combination with cheap gaudy jewelery covered in 4K gold in a misleading attempt to display wealth and is considered "cool." Do I even need to mention the ever present mullet of the redneck species? Although if you do win the right to mate with a man or woman who thinks big clouds are "cool", then yeah, you're probably right and you've lost already.

Wait, so subohm vaping with a mullet doesn't make you cool?

I guess sub-ohming is being more normalized.. just look at all the youtube video's.. i guess that's when the fun starts for a lot people with vaping.

The only reason why i sub-ohm is because i use SS wire 0.4mm thick about 5 to 7 wraps... Why?
  • Because i like SS wire and using temp mode, but still have to choice to power vape it.
  • I like the thickness of the wire because it's not to vulnerable and not to stiff to work with
  • 5 to 7 wraps, purely based on the size of the deck. I'm not to fond of fiddling to much with my coil
Anything to make coil wrapping easy..

If my resistance would be 2.3 ohms or whatever.. i honestly don't care about that.. it's a regulated mod, i can tweak the settings on the mod to get the vape i like.

It seems that in discussion of tanks, only sub-ohm tanks are considered. I think I'm starting to accept that my love of vaping declined severely once I transferred to sub-ohm. It's just too harsh, too hot, kills the flavour and eats through juice. That's my personal view of it, but is it the standard or do I have other good options?

The lowest stock atomiser heads for my clearomiser is 1.6 Ohm, I'm a heavy user and a new head rarely lasts a week. Taking the resistance down gets more life out of DIY coils, but just reducing how many wraps gives to a small point of too hot. The secret is surface area, thicker wire is the way to go.

The last wire I bought has too high resistivity, so I twist it double, triple or even quadruple before winding - but I always aim for just over 1 Ohm.

I tootle away on my (mostly) 1.5 ohms and dam the torpedoes.

I see non-subohm vapers using subohm tanks. Sometimes I ask and they are using high ohm coils and mostly-closed airflow. Some have no idea, it is just what the B&M sold them.

The higher ohm tanks/clearomizers are not produced as much anymore as the industry changes towards the hobbyist need. But, the older ones are still around and often on sale or at lower prices.

For me, I look the middle ground of 1ish ohms. A little of both worlds and not to hot.
I was a happy Tootle Puffer for over 3 years, however, I was frustrated with tanks such as the I Clear and Pro Tanks that the coils would not even last a week. I started Sub Ohm with a Kanger Pro tank after a visit to my local B&M for yet more coils. I started looking at some tanks and told the guy there that I wanted a tank that had longer lasting coils. When he told me his Subtank coil was on week 3, I was amazed. He also showed me some newer devices that went over 15 watts. I went home and did some research and then ordered a 75 watt device and a Subtank and passed my 15 watt VTR and I Clear Tanks on to my brother. I liked it so much that a month later I bought a couple of other Higher watt mods and tanks and my brother a new set-up too. Even if you don't sub ohm, some of the tanks that are capable of Sub ohm provide higher ohm coils for toodle puffers and like I found out, coils that last a lot longer.
