Temperature control is probably where the industry is heading, but it's still too early in that game. We are their beta testers. The recent flood of temp control mods is evidence of that. Some work well (sort of) and some don't really work at all. I'm thinking it will be another year before it really starts to get accurate.

Everyone just says it's for not getting dry hits but that is not the only use. I use it because I prefer a cooler vape. Normally when I chain vape the vapor gets warmer than I like. With temp control I get the same vape with every hit. Also some experts believe higher temperature vaping is more likely to produce unhealthy gases so TC reduces that risk. And you don't get dry hits lol

A well tuned build, and keeping your vaper-sense twitching should allow you to avoid 80% of dry hits. TC helps to avoid the other 20%
It's not just the dry hits, it's also a means of avoiding overheating of the e-liquid thus avoiding some of the possibly dangerous chemicals overheating releases.

Hi, I heared of temperatured-controlled e-cigs recently. Is it good? what are the differents from common ecigs?

It's still pretty new; current working systems use special low ohm coils to work.
Newer systems have recently been announced that are supposed to work with existing coils.

I thought TC was mostly a gimmick, and only for people who were prone to getting dry hits, which I was not.

However, once I got my first TC mod I realized how consistent a vape they can deliver! Whether you like a cool vape or a warm vape, using a TC mod allows you to get a CONSISTENT vape on every hit. Also, running a dripper with temperature control lets you vape your dripper dry in order to change flavors rather than having to change the cotton - that's one of my favorite benefits of TC!

Its not necessarily important, but it depends what type of wire your have. If you use kanthal and use temperature control mode the kanthal will stay hot and never cool down. The only type of wire you can use with temp control is nickel and titanium. When you use temp control the flavor is much better compared to regular old power (watts) mode.

1) Most important, TC helps prevent PG, VG, and flavorings in liquid from reaching flash point temp or a temp that causes a potentially toxic byproduct when above that temp, example acrolene gas etc.
2) Helps prevent wicking material from burning, or the metal of a coil from reaching melting point, example Nickel 200 (Ni200) which is generally being used for TC coils (Curie Temp of Ni200 = 360 °C (680 °F), melting temp is 1435 - 1446 °C (2615 - 2635 °F))
3) Takes variable wattage/variable voltage to the next stage, starts at set power output to heat up, then when gets into range of set cap temp, modulates power output to keep that temp or below for a steady, consistent vape over straight unregulated, straight regulated voltage, or vv/vw settings which keep at what is set or available going to the coil constantly.

Is it important? That depends on what you're looking for. I bought a TC mod shortly after the DNA40 boards hit the streets, mostly because I wanted to try it.

I think it's a good feature, and very useful, but as others have mentioned, it's a technology that still needs some development.

I look to more "factory" coils coming in a TC version, and possibly even some atomizers built specifically for TC operation. To work properly, TC needs good, solid electrical connections. That doesn't always happen in the real world.

They are nice, but not necessary. They aid in avoiding dry hits by cutting off the power when your coil becomes too hot. Generally speaking, your coil will become "too hot" when there isn't enough juice in/on the wick to keep it cool.
In a nut shell: You set a desired temperature (typically 410-450), set your desired watts, and fire away. The mod will begin to fire at your desired wattage (e.g, if I set mine to 15W, it will begin firing at 15W). Once your set temperature is reached, the power will be cut off. However, the action of inhaling/taking in air will consequently cool down the coil, dropping the temperature, and allowing you to keep vaping. Your device will adjust the wattage in order to keep you at your desired temperature.
