I did DL for about 18 months and was down to 6mg. But it got old. Recently returned to MTL with relic clearos and ego batts.
I first mixed some 50/50 36mg FB juice.... ARRRRRRRR.... throat hit from inside my lips across my tongue into my lungs and curled my nose hair on the way out!!! Yeah THIS is where I belong! Just my last mix this morning I cut down to 24mg so a little flavor can come thru and I'm thinking this is where I'll stay unless new gear requires a change at some point. But only new stuff I've been buying our searching for is vintage 2014-15.

I think that initially vaping became the big thing among long term smokers who were looking to improve their health, but now more younger smokers are making the switch before they develop a hard core nicotine habit. I know that when I was still a school age smoker I rarely smoked more that 5 cigarettes a day. By the time I was 50 it was almost 2 packs a day.

My journey started with 510 cigalikes at 24mg and has settled in at about 9mg, low wattage MTL, about 9ml/day. I have been using a DL subohm device for kicks here and there and found that 6mg was plenty in that application.

I do think that the massive growth of liquid vendors has been a factor, as the nic is often the most expensive component. Lower nic is the most profitable and will result in greater overall sales as some will vape much higher liquid volume.

Right, and a bottle of 3mg liquid generally costs the same as a bottle of 18.

I also think shops pushed people into high-powered DL gear in the hopes of selling them more more liquid, and let's face it, liquid (not gear) is where the profit is for a vape shop.

I never tried a pod mod, is the vape similiar to a kayfun?

Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk

The small size and draw activation were appealing to me, especially when I was transitioning from cigarettes. There's a lot of variation among the pods in flavor and draw. Some are more flavorful than others though I'd say none come close to a Kayfun. Some have a tight draw and others have a loose draw. Most of them have the same construction as a RTA. Some can even be rebuilt although it is not intended. Most pods have thin wire... like around 32 gauge wire. They don't work well for chain vaping. But they are extremely convenient for on the go.

Here's a comparison of the Myblu (My Von Erl) pod and the SXK Doggy. Both have a metal chimney and a plastic tank. The Myblu holds around 2 ml and the Doggy holds 3.5 ml. Both are rebuildable though the Myblu isn't intended to be rebuilt and it takes much more patience to rebuild something that tiny.

I think it was the wattage race along with the advancements in tanks which took place from 2014 until now which changed the recommended nic levels. Heck, after the cig-a-likes I changed to egos/C4's at 24mg. Then got the MVP with protanks and evods and went down to 18mg vaping between 8-10 watts. Once the higher wattage and sub ohm tanks started taking over, I moved down to 12mg down to 3mg. However, was vaping like 20-30 mils a day.

Earlier this year I started using pods and upped my nic levels to 18mg again and have been vaping between 2-4 mils a day. I didn't do it for health reasons. Heck, all the garbage I've put in my body in my life, I really don't think about health effects from the amount of vapor I am putting in my lungs. I didn't do it to save money either as I DIY. The main reason I switched to pods is I like the hit and form factor of them.

Another reason I switched, I was sick of feeling like a slave to my mod and always having to have a vape in my hands 24/7. My house was cluttered with many mods, chargers, battery cases, and juice bottles. Now I take a few vapes and put the pod in my pocket and move along with my day. Much easier to keep the place organized and if it turns out to be healthier in the long run, I'll take it.

Never know, vaping might have cycles like fashion. What is in today might be out tomorrow and after a few tweaks, will make a comeback a few years later.

o_O Hey I'm not trolling you here, please don't take it that way, but this has me totally baffled! 9ml/day low wattage MTL? I feel like I'm vaping constantly all day long, cuz I can, and barely do over 1ml/day. Barely did 4ml/day DL.
What in the world are vaping on? Have you got a bellows hooked up to it?;) I'm seriously anxious to learn how ya kin do dat. Not that I want to. Just how in the world.......

Good summation ..

I started 5 years ago at 24 mg, mtl. I diy so I have anywhere from 3-12 on hand. I was not on ECF for quite some tome and when I came back, pods were a thing. All I could think was how weak the vapor production must be for them to use 50mg lol.

For me, I’d rather use gear that is efficient enough that I don’t have to go to the wall with the nic, and not use a ton of juice either.

I go through about 5 ml a day, strictly MTl (and the 'l' is lower-case for a reason) at "medium" power (15-20 watts).

I think I could vape 9 ml in a day if I tried harder. But I'm not sure how it's possible to vape "constantly all day long" and only go through 1 ml.

For me it's tightest draw I can get, (Aspire BDC or GS Air tanks) take what it gives gently don't force, long slow puffs. 6-8 Watts 1.5-1.8 ohm. And it really does seem constant to me. Maybe not chain vapeing but every few minutes. :?:

Earlier this year I started using pods and upped my nic levels to 18mg again and have been vaping between 2-4 mils a day.

Interesting.... shortly after I started vaping, I settled on a DIY mod that was VV, set to 5volts. Used Boge cartos that were 1.2 or 1.8 (?). Of course that was MTL. Went through about 5 ml / day 12 mg Nic. Switching to Kayfuns built at 1.0-1.2 ohms, and Picos, dropped to 9 mg, then 6 mg Nic, but still MTL. Now sub ohm, DL, and higher wattage, and probably 10ml-12ml of liq at 6 ml. (The 18650 batts using now last about as long as the 14500 batts I used in my DIY mod). Sometimes I wonder if "less is more" and should retry the MTL / 1.0+ ohm/ less ml juice.

Dunno. I started at 18 mg on ego pens. Went to carto tanks and I stayed at 18mg. When I got my first kayfun, I had to drop to 12, then 9mg . Along came drippers and high powered stuff. I dropped to 3mg. The hobby side took hold pretty good and I was vaping a lot. Squonkers or tanks....it didn't matter. Everything was dual coil, lots of power and lots of juice. I guess I got it out of my system. These days, I like very restricted DL single coils at .8 or so . My current all day device is a billet box with an exocet. I go through 6 or 7 mls a day now. Strangely enough I've stayed at 3mg with no ill effects.

To take a stab at the ops question....perhaps we have more efficient builds and more efficient wicking. I'd love to try that first kayfun build today. I remember it completely blew my mind back then. I imagine it would still blow my mind....but for a completely different reason .

When considering the amount of nicotine consumed, should we not consider mg/ml x ml consumed...say in a day on average?

Last time I took a stab at my mg/day level it was ~78mg/day. There will be a new calculation point coming up for me in another 40ml or so.

How many ml/day do you consume?

I'm a fairly recent convert (end of Jan this year). I started mtl at 18mg, stayed at that for a few months, then 15mg for a month . been on 12mg ever since.

Kinda like it at 12mg so I doubt I'll go down any time soon ;)

Mtl vaper, around 15w and go through 4-5ml a day.
