i had my eye on a smoant battle star but it turns out the thing is made of pot metal. The wismec seems to be made of aluminum though. The question is though is it both reliable and any good for TC?

Any thoughts? Alternative mods? I want something with accurate SS TC, 2 batteries, and rugged. I'd be buying a geekvape ageis but it's only one battery

The geekvape aegis uses a single battery true but it's not an 18650 it's a 26650 i believe which are much bigger.
battlestar is not made of pot metal and probably made of the same materials that most mods are made (ie blend of zinc and stainless). If you really need something rugged you can't go more indestructable than the aegis mod.

"Zinc alloy" and pot metal are actually the same thing. it's just a nicer sounding name. Stainless is a steel alloy usually with a good bit of nickle in it that causes rust to not adhere to it. if it was a stainless alloy they'd call it stainless because they could. "zinc alloy" is usually zinc, lead, and a few other things.

Fact still remains, most mods are made of a mix between zinc and stainless, there might be some made of aluminum but i haven't seen one. I know some are made of stab wood and resin though but those are expensive as hell lolz

wismec pressa and reulaeux are both listed on fasttech as being aluminum, as is the ageis. i can confirm that the presa is because i sanded the remaining paint off mine. It's aluminum underneath. Even the buttons amazingly.

my rx 200s' do decent tc imo. No idea if it or the gen 3 are actually aluminum though. I believe my hohm wrecker g2's are milled aluminum and they do great TC (1 or 2 still have wobbly battery doors even after removing the ribbon, and a magnet came out of one of the doors) but they are expensive unless you get them on a half off sale like I got all 4 of mine at.

I use my RX200S for TC all the time and in my opinion it works wonderful. Almost 3 years and the 510 is still fine also! Although my battery cover got a new paint job today! Paint doesn't take kindly to being dropped on cement so many times as I have dropped this poor MOD.

I had the RX200s and the RX300 before I switched to unregulated and mechs. I didn’t care for TC much but as for the build quality and dependability, they are ok. My 200s hadn’t had any problems but I had issues with the 300’s 510 which I e heard about other Reuleaux mods. I know this may not be much help but google reviews and that should shine some light on the subject.

From my understanding, the Wismec does TC well, I've been eyeing all the DNA mods until my eyes crossed, LOL.

I want the Geekvape big time, compared to what else I've seen, but I'm not so sure on the 2665? Are the expensive? Will my charger charge it? Etc. I'm going to wait a while....

Afaik 26650s are about more but not a ton more. Power wise they're a lot like a 21700. A bit more juice than an 18650, but nothing to write home about. They're on @Mooch 's battery chart if you're interested.

The Reuleaux (and the rx200, rx200s, Gen3) are also made of zinc alloy. The vast majority of metal mods are zinc alloy. I've had aluminium mods in the past and honestly, there's not that much of a difference.
