It's too late for a refund but I wonder if Home Depot will exchange it for me.
It seems to work good if I'm testing an Ithaka or Ody itself, though.. stick one probe in the center post and the other on the base... very strange that it doesn't work well with wires! I watched your videos and yours definitely works better than mine with a simple alligator clip.
¿Have you tried changing the battery?
I have a cheap multimeter, since new it never worked fine, internal resistance was too high (+1.8 ohms), it stayed jumping between values when measuring resistances, and all sort of problems.
First thing I did was disassemble it and cleaned the contacts on the wheel, it worked much better: constant internal resistance reading (1.0 ohms). Last week it started to jump between values again, I just changed the battery for a new one and it is working very good, now it shows 0.4 ohms of internal resistance.
I do not think that touching the wires while reading resistance will affect, I always do like that, holding one the resistance wires between my fingers and multimeter pins and get the same reading that I get when not touching them with fingers (to my understanding, electricity travels through the easiest path, but I could be wrong).
