Sometimes there is. It depends on the liquid. Some mixers use pure grain alcohol and/or distilled water to thin VG, so that it will wick better.
Hi Victorious. I've read where some people add high proof alcohol (the liquor kind and not the rubbing alcohol kind) in a small amount to some e liquid to give them more of a throat hit and to thin out VG. Sorry if I'm not explaining it technically enough probably but when buying premade e liquid, it might have a trace of alcohol, but I don't think it is used very often.

I believe both can be used in place of alcohol in a wide variety of applications I may be wrong, but to my knowledge they can be found in HBC products to food to industrial applications. Now if your asking if alcohol is added to a e-juice you buy i'm not sure best bet would be to ask the vendor. I hop this helps.

Some vendor high VG juices have either distilled water added or PGA to thin it out. Usually the vendor will mention this.
Generally, if there is any alcohol, it's in the flavorings that the vendors use. The amount wouldn't affect you as it evaporates due to the heat off the coil.
Chemically, both PG and glycerin are "alcohols" but I'm sure the OP was not talking about chemical classification, but rather about the presence of ethanol - the drinking alcohol, and what is commonly referred to as alcohol in common parlance. In that respect, no - neither PG nor VG should be considered related to alcohol in a practical manner.
As said, juice may contain small amounts of ethanol added for two purposes. It is a necessary solvent in certain flavorings, and it is sometimes used to "thin" 100% glycerin bases. The amount is always small and probably there is little chance of either intoxication or detection by a police screening device. It cannot really be more than very little because of the type of throat hit alcohol would give - I once accidentaly vaped a little VG and a lot of vodka while experimenting with cleaning atties and it brought tears to my eyes.
It dawned on me that your concern might be religious, in which case -- just ask the vendors. However, some might not be 100% able to say what is in the flavorings they use. A lot of menthol out there uses alcohol as a solvent, so do a lot of tobacco extracted flavorings, but there is no hard and fast rule!
