Sweet, Salty, Sour, and Bitter are the four variations of taste. Combine that with the olfactory gland in the nose and you can perceive many more variations of the senses. But ... not with a cold or allergy or dry tongue and sinuses. Lots of people complain about loss of taste when vaping and the chief cause is usually dehydration of the mouth and sinuses. It comes and goes. Drinks lots of water to replace that absorbed by PG and VG which are humectants.

If you don't find PG anywhere locally, Amazon sells it. $14.95 a quart.
Amazon.com: Propylene Glycol - Food Grade USP - 1 Quart (32 Oz.): Health & Personal Care

Tractor Supply sells PG, the label in the picture says USP, but it's farm/animal grade USP. Lots of people here use it, but I hope my juice vendor uses Pharmaceutical grade.
Ideal Animal Health Propylene Glyco, 1 gal. - Tractor Supply Online Store

I'd go with Amazon if you can't find pharma grade USP PG. Pharm grade, food grade, and animal grade USP are different purity levels.

For inhalation, pharmaceutical grade is recommended.

Thanks Dave for your insights. I'm thinking though that what I'm lacking is probably enough contrast in my juices. Of course it being allergy season, it could also be allergies acting up too, but my sinuses haven't been too bad lately--we've had enough rain to keep the air reasonably clean. As to hydration I drink at least 3L of water a day, if I don't I can't taste anything at all.

Over all the problem is probably lacking a sour component in my e-juice (I seem to favor sweet juices), and maybe adding a menthol or two. That should solve the problem, the seasonal allergies I can't do anything about really. I smoked for 20 years too so it may take some time for my sense of taste to come up to par.

That said, even if I can't taste my juice, if I can smell them I still enjoy them. When I had the vaper's tongue, most of the enjoyment factor came from the "nose". I usually exhale from the nose so the smell of juices are important to me.

Ah yes the famous Wizard labs.

I actually have their web page bookmarked. Once I get myself situated to make internet orders (and have a general idea of what kind of juices I like) I'm planning on making orders to begin full out DIY. But I see that they have PG. Also talked to my juice supplier and he sold me some too (only a 90 cent markup over the Wizard Labs price--probably less than shipping). I don't know why I didn't talk to them first.
