I have a number of eGo batteries... some manual and a few automatic. Today I had one of the automatics in my hand when I went through my bedroom dressing area. That area has no windows and was pretty dark. I took a toot on my eGo cartomizer and battery and then saw a "red glow" coming from the area where the battery attaches to the cartomizer. I've never seen that before and it scared me. I immediately took the cartomizer off and switched to one of the manual batteries.

What I wonder is, could that "red glow" always be there and I never noticed before or is it a sign that something is wrong with the battery? It is a bit scary for me and I'd appreciate any information.

Why don't you take another one of your automatics with the same carto setup and see if you see the same thing. Just a thought. Weird though! Very weird!

You've solved the mystery by your suggestion. I took the cartomizer I was using and tried it on another "automatic" eGo battery. There is a very tiny hole where the button would be if it were a mechanical eGo. That is where the red light is coming from and it must be the battery firing up somehow. Even with a completely different cartomizer, all the auto's show a red glow through that little hole. I never noticed it before but there it is. Thus, the battery must be OK and that is just part of the make-up of the automatic batteries.
