So I'm wanting to get some more use out of my ViVi nova. I had a problem a few weeks ago that i post on here about heads having a burnt aftertaste even after letting it wick. Some of the posters gave me tips on cleaning them and recommended using alcohol and soaking new heads. So I busted out a new head today and soaked it and rinsed and filled my tank. Let it sit for about 15mins and then tried to vape. Same thing! It has a nasty burnt taste and a tiny bit of flavor from my juice. So I took the top off the tank and removed that little rubber cap from the head and hit the fire button on my vamo so see whats up.

The coil isnt glowing. I only saw the wire beneath the wick and coil heating up but as far as the wire on the wick itself there was nothing. I even held it down for 6-8 seconds and it never lit up and the vaper that came out of that was just nasty. I'm vaping peach tea from HHV so I know I dont have some nasty juice. It's worth mentioning that the heads that Ive tried are all from the same package that I ordered from myvaporstore.com. Is it possible that i got a bad batch or something? because i've never had a problem with a vivi nova until using these heads.

Tech info: I'm vaping these 2.4ohm heads on a Vamo V2 set to 7.5 watts.

Also please don't tell me how to use a vivi nova, i know how to make sure it wicks, how to roll it around so the juice hits the wicks when it gets low. I don't mean to come off rude, I just get irritated when people assume right away that I don't know how my tank works. I know the problem is with these heads, I'm looking for advice or similar experiences. Maybe theres some other sort of "prep" i can do before vaping a new head? I have no idea tbh.

I can't really speak to your personal experience but I don't think anyone can. I've used the mini novas with pretty good results and haven't ever really had this dry hitting or burning so many people talk about. I use 50/50 juice exclusively so I'm not sure if that has something to do with it.

Anyway, I got all my stuff from MVS and really thats the vendor I trust most out of the maybe 20 I deal with. I'd be pretty surprised if they werent genuine vision heads, so maybe the manufacturer has let quality slip? It's worth it to call them up or put in a ticket or whatever in my opinion. I've only ever had to do this once with MVS over a missing part. They sent it out asap. I imagine they'd treat you right.

I quit buying the vivi heads once I figured out how to rewick and coil from PBusuardo's excellent tutorial so I haven't bought any in a long time.

Yeah I love MVS. That's where I get all of my hardware. This seems to be a little bit more than dry hits. Just from lookin at the inside as its heating up it looks like its heating the wrong part.

can you explain more about this? from your first post it sound like you are saying the bottom of the coil is heating but not the top? that doesn't sound possible

It helps if you have a multi meter or know someone that has one to check the resistance to see if it has a short. That would give you a idea to what is happening. Take the cap off and look at the coil. Make sure the coil is not touching the sides of the head that it fits in.Take very small screwdriver and push the coil ends away from the sides to see if that works, good luck.

Yeah from the looks of it. Its heating beneath the wick and I'm not seeing any glow on the coil part of the wire. I eve put a drop of liquid directly on the coil and still got burnt flavor.

I checked the resist using the setting on my VAMO and it says it's st 2.6. The marking on the head says 2.4 but in didn't think that was a problem. And yeah when I compare the heads they are all the same.

I wish I could help, but I just can't imagine this. If the bottom of the wire has current, then the top must also.

In any event, I think this would qualify as DOA. Contact MVS and see what you can do about getting a refund or credit or replacement.

I would do that but they were purchased maybe a month or more ago and I just now opened them. I'm sure they may try and accommodate me but I think instead I'll just order some supplies and rebuild them. I watch that PBusardo video you were talkin about and it looks stupid easy. Great starting point for rebuildables, I knew I was headed there eventually anyway lol.

Sounds like the coils may be wrapped to tight cutting off juice flow in the wicks. That pack was probably all made by the same person that wound the wicks to tight. A couple other things to check is that the part glowing red on the bottom is not laying on the grommet inside burning it. The coils will get hot enough to glow if there is some juice in the wicks cooling them down.

As I type this it occurs to me that the coils may be raised to far in the head. Leaving a little bit of resistance wire on each end of the coil that is getting to hot and giving you that burnt taste. Hot spots will burn juice that drips down and the taste of the coil comes through better. The legs of a coil need to be as short as possible to prevent this. Fixing this is a PIA once the wires are trimmed during the head build. QC has really slipped with the high demand from the explosion of new vapers hitting the market, and the hoarders stocking up fearing FDA regulations.

I know you know how to use your Vivi nova but you may have overlooked this:
Try screwing the head tighter to the air tube. If it's too loose , the button on your PV will still show a blue light but you wont be getting enough power to the atomizer head to make it glow. If once you tried that with no joy then it must be a short. Or you could inspect the screw part of the head through a magnifying lens of some sort. Look for the two tag ends of wire. One of them must touch the metal on the outside of the rubber grommet and the other must touch the middle nipple on the inside of the grommet. If still no joy then it must be a bad batch and a refund or a rebuild is the order of the day I'm afraid

Holy crap! I think i just figured out what the problem is!!! I noticed when I cleaned the tank out and let it dry, that the plastic tank tube was VERY cloudy and opaque after it dried instead of clear. I know some juices break down tanks so Is it possible that I'm getting a bad taste due to some of the tank melding with my juice or something? I don't know if its possible but the taste does make sense since it has less of a "burnt" taste and more of a dry plastic like taste.

I honestly don't know. :(
I use Vivi Nova's exclusively along with HHV exclusively. I just wanted to make sure that people knew HHV liquids don't hurt equipment. ;)

Edit to add: it would stand to reason that it may. Try getting a replacement tube, they are really inexpensive.

Thats the only other thing i can think of why I would be getting so bad flavor... I mean I'm vaping HHV. That stuff tastes GREAT so this is NOT okay lol. It just seems unlikely that I would get 4 bad heads in a row. But like someone said they could have been assembled by the same person who did a crap job.

I do have an STV Vivi Nova in the mail though so we'll see how that one goes.

Also I went a did it.... I bought a rebuild-able atomizer/tank. Got me a spool of wire and wick too so i'm gonna rewick my nova heads AND my protank heads. I took a protank head apart and it would be done essentially the same way you would rebuild a Nova head.

I've crossed the threshold into DIY lol. Now I'm researching DIY. But after HHV I dont think I could make anything as good as they do lol.
