I don't believe so. There have been several (not entirely satisfactory) studies showing higher levels of unhealthy substances in vapers' body fluids as opposed to non-vapers, but no confirmed evidence of harm from them.

Other than that, the closest thing I can think of is a quote I once read by the Royal College of Physicians saying that vaping is 95% + safer than smoking, and the 5% is the risk of unknowns, not currently proven harm. Unfortunately, I can't seem to find the full quote although a simple search will turn up the 95% part quickly enough.

One harm we can confirm is that buying lousy batteries and/or abusing your batteries can result in battery fires and explosions, which have been known to to be damaging to one's health.

So, apart from batteries we do have valid concerns about risk but I don't know that there's any conclusive evidence of harm.

You are not going to have "conclusive evidenced based data" of any use until about 30 years from now, sorry. We need a cohort of never smoker vapers (go team teens!) ex smokers turned to vapers, smokers, and just people who inhale air. Then you need to collect data on a BUNCH of stuff.

I'm not so sure science does this anymore. Maybe the NIH will do one, they used to do a bunch.

But the bottom line is, it is too soon to tell. I imagine it's bad for you in some ways, but probably not terrifically harmful.

Anyone who says otherwise is lying.

Oh, I expect it will be done (we can anticipate the results in about 2050 or so, as you say), I just question whether it'll have any effect on public policy.

The science arguments get tiresome. I switched 5 1/2 years ago after smoking 40 of the previous 50 years. that needed too happen before what came after. Reformed diet, whole food low carb (keto). Exercise, 2 hours daily walking or airbike plus 100 minutes a week lifting. Reduced weight 30 pounds to 140, currently back to160 (13.5%) with 14 lbs new muscle, 6 lbs of fat. Blood pressure, blood sugar, etc. normalized. Lung exam and xray last April showed all good. I turned 71 last December. Just in case that's not enough vaping is free if you mix and rebuild. Smoking a carton a week cost me $3,000 a year. I know what vaping has done for me, don't give a rat's behind about the science.

UK government. Read it on site. Here is an small part. So if you smoke switch if don't smoke already don't vape.

PHE publishes independent expert e-cigarettes evidence review
vaping poses only a small fraction of the risks of smoking and switching completely from smoking to vaping conveys substantial health benefits

Is there any truthful data whatsoever from the health community that vaping is bad for you in any way?

Hundreds of thousands of ECF members haven't reported any ill health caused by vaping since 2007. So anything else must be BS.

We'd need to define "you."
You, the smoker, or ex-smoker? Without question, vaping is much better than smoking. And probably better than any other way to get nicotine.
For you who has never smoked? I don't think you are better by vaping, so it is either bad or it is of no consequence. I agree, if you are not a smoker, don't vape.

But as to "truthful data from the health community"?

You can read lots of studies showing red wine is bad, and red wine is good, or eggs are bad, or good, beef is good or bad, chocolate is good, or bad... Even tomatoes. (considered poisonous by some when first brought to Europe from the new world)

I guess the answer is, no.

I smoked for 35 years before switching to vaping. Now feel much, much, much better and lungs are perfectly clear. Now on an exercise program in addition to an already healthy diet. Two years ago I switched to MTE (mouth to exhale) vaping, so no lung inhales. None the less, TFK, AHA, ALA, UCSF will tell you that food flavors are addictive and vape in one's mouth will kill you. They are full of .... -- and their ideology unsupported by science or evidence. Sure, you can find people like the discredited Stan Glantz willing to make stuff up to support their ideology. OTH, ex-smokers have been vaping for over ten years with ~50 million vapors worldwide. And all serious, controlled, longitudinal studies I have seen indicate significantly improved outcomes versus smoking cigarettes. If you are a smoker, don't hesitate -- make the switch to vaping. Judgement day will come for these LYING turds and they will burn in hell for the lives they have destroyed.

That all said, yes sure, you can minimize your risks. Use temperature controlled mods and keep temperatures below 450F. Stick with suppliers who avoid at-risk flavorings i.e. lung irritants, etc. Better still, make you own eliquid. I use Flavor Art flavors exclusively as they have tested against live lung cell tissue. Use high-quality stainless steel atomizers and avoid NiCr wire. And finally teach yourself to vape MTE. You won't have zero risk -- but it ain't much. Enjoy!

Vaping is not well regulated in quality control. Oh, it is easy to get good gear, and wise users have good habits, but there is a black market.

It is good to read "What's New" every day and stick with good dealers. ECF has a lot of info, too.

Read, learn, understand.

when I originally told my doctor, he said, "good".

For me, vaping was and is absolutely beneficial to my health. Before I started vaping I was diagnosed with COPD and had to use 2 inhalers a day. I also had a cough that was so chronic and bad that someone at work complained to HR about me coughing NONSTOP. Within 3 weeks of vaping, the cough was gone and I was off the inhalers. This is just my experience but vaping has been absolutely life-changing for me in a positive way. It’s probably the reason it’s my obsession in life and I’ve fallen way down the rabbit hole and have stocked up on a lifetime of nic, hardware and tanks. Vaping saved my life!
