Water works well, and if you filter the particulates from the resulting fluid you won't clog your atomizer. I used isopropyl alcohol to CLEAN my atomizer twice -- and it stunk so bad for so long that I'll never do anything but a water wash again.

I have tried alcohol extraction with heat -- poof, no alcohol left in a short time. And I'm not sure alcohol used in cold extraction would be better than water. I'm waiting now for someone to try extraction in an ultrasonic cleaner, which should shatter the nicotine inside the tobacco. We have other threads on this topic.

From what I know about isopropyl alcohol, you'd be better off with something else. The isopropyl part is digested to acetone and this will make you feel slightly ill. Wouldn't want to inhale anything like that...

For plain extractions, ETHANOL may serve better- everclear and so forth. Stay clear of methanol...

Water sounds like a safe bet, it's the universal solvent and has yet to be proven toxic ;)

so im soak 50g of cherry pipe tobacco chop into powder in 500ml of water for 24 hours then filter and put 25ml of DIETHYLETHER, shake sometimes for another 24 hours then gently separate the upper layer, evaporate the DIETHYLETHER and get around 500mg yellow substance witch have identical smell and after mixing with 50ml of VG identical taste of the cherry tobacco when u smoke it...

WOW , Did not see this topic. I just ask on another thread or I would have ask it hear.
I have about 5 ponds of Virgin homegrown tobacco that I grew last year. It is to harsh to smoke so I will be doing some Extraction's.
My question is How would I know how much nicotine is inside the tobacco ?

You can't, please be VERY careful, nicotine is VERY, VERY poisonous, even on skin it CAN KILL, is not safe to handle it without knowledge and lab equipment a person can die with as little as 60mg of pure nicotine, be careful!!!

Yikes 8-o Of course you know that ALL of these solvents are big-time fire hazards and ether can blow your house apart! No flames anywhere when doing this, or better yet, stick with water if it works well enough.

Actually, you can only get 95% ethanol - 190 proof Everclear.

Alchohol cannot be distilled past 95.6%.

By USA law, or for technical reasons?

(By the way, the term "throat hit" takes on an all new meaning if you play with this stuff. Don't plan on breathing for a good 45 seconds.)

so i try the butane extraction used to extract hash oil = u can get only very small amount of extract using lot of butane the ethanol or DIETHYLETHER method is much more effective, and same about ethanol and DIETHYLETHER in DIETHYLETHER u solve more nicotine and evaporate more quickly then ethanol remains pure extract with 0.001% left with ethanol u wait looong time and then u have extract with 5% wather ... best metohod using DIETHYLETHER is with soxhlet extractor /dont know about usa but in czech u can buy new 70ml complet for about 70$ and u can putt inside basicly everythink to extract/ to avoid explosions is simple - dont smoke ;]]] and work outside or in good ventilated room...
