Working on creating my new box mod and i can't for the life of me get the ground wire on my 510 connection to stick.

I have the connector from - 510 Connector - 14mm & 22mm Spring Loaded Center Pin

The center pin soldiered just fine. I tried placing the ground on the nut and threads. I tried filing down an area on each and still no luck. aside from soldiering a washer, any tips on getting it to stick? I'm using lead-free soldier w/ flux core and a 25w weller iron.

the washer idea will work, got a pic of the 510 that you are using too see why it isnt holding the solder well. Some might need some light sanding and the use of flux to get the solder connection to hold. I personally prefer mechanical conntecions, IE the washer with a solder point held onto the 510 with the use of a nut, basically a fatdaddy 510. Using solder as the "glue" to hold your negative connection of the 510 is setting yourself up for a possible poor performing mod. HTTH

take some pliers use your stove top, heat up the nut and then apply solder to tin it and solder a wire onto it, but if its a tight fit in your mod and you cannot tighten it with a soldered wire, just tighten it mark it where you want to tin it, then stove top it, then while mounted in the mod solder it, once you get it tinned it goes easy.... You can also just use some flux but clean it up really good after with some alcohol. I have used the stove top with success on stainless soldering as well as vinegar used as a mild flux both have worked.. Thats a brass nut it should solder without either above but ----..

I'm doing something wrong. having the same issue with the new iron. can get everything on the tip to accept soldier except for the very tip. cleaned it on a wet sponge, dry sponge and when that didn't work i tried a very light pressure 200 grit sandpaper.

Everything on the mod is wired and soldiered except for attaching it all to the dna30 board.
