I also have been having this issue with like 20 packs now...first when I strarted like a year ago I could fill my cartomizer and not have to refill all day..now I need to brinf my bottle of juice with me at all times just to top up and not have the burnt taste...and also when I get that taste it only takes like 5 drops..any more than that and it everfills.

I ordered the blanks about a week or so, ago, and I had the same problem with mine, too. When I filled them, it was like I had to keep putting more and more into them, before it came out of the end of it. Then when I went to vape on them, same time happened. I had either a lot of juice coming out of them, which I had to bump them on a paper towel to get some of it out, before I could vape on it, then after vaping on it, for awhile, it got that burnt out flavor. I still have them, but should I still contact the company, about this problem, or what?

Hmm interesting thread... I use the coolcarts and I don't seem to have this problem. I have noticed that they work really well with less liquid though, I refill mine 3 times a day, maybe less but depends on how much I vape, but when I refill mine, I only put probably 5-8 drops. I am currently vaping a Ms. T's juice, and I have only refilled one time so far today... No clue if this helps, but this has been my personal experience.

you can fix this problem by following the instructions on the other forum page about repairing new carts.... you turn the inside of the cart quarter turn with a screwdriver or needle nose

I can't seem to find the thread you're talking about, could you provide a link to it?

Thanks,
Ken

And as for fill method, I pop the mouthpiece and drip directly into the filler material, 20+ drops, at a 45* angle, while rotating the cart, standing on my head, singing kumbayah, yada, yada, yada...you know...just in case someone thought I might not've been filling them correctly ;)

28-32 drops for a WOW carto.
40-44 drops for a coolcart.
the wow cartos are a low resistance carto and get MUCH hotter than the coolcarts, so its possible that the bad taste you are getting is burnt juice.

Ok, read the other thread...unfortunately it had absolutely nothing to do with my issue here...

The issue here is burnt taste, and NOT a burnt liquid taste - it appears to be the wick burning in the coil due to it not wicking juice from the filler very well...

Maybe the coil is too tight and restricting the juice from wicking into the coil properly?!? I can only imagine with the requests for higher resistance cartos, that in order to increase the ohms, the wire for the coil must be lengthened, which would require a tighter wrap to fit into the same space as before (just a theory)...?

im confused. i thought you had WOW cartos? they are low res cartos, so im not sure what your theory is? not trying to be mean here (no, really). maybe just try filling them with 35 drops, blow out the extra, and see if that works for you. that is how i do it and have never had an issue.

I had trouble with Coolcarts recently, which is why I still prefer the premiums. I noticed that the filler inside the coolcarts was packed too tight. When I filled them, they overflowed without ever really getting saturated. Then naturally, after a few puffs, the wick went dry and charred. The only way I could get them to work past the "break-in" period, was to fill to near overflow and then work the stuff into filler by pushing into it with a needle. The resistance on the needle also tells me the filler is too tight. I would have to repeat this several times and just got annoying, so went back to premos. On the upside, if you do get past that first filling and the filler starts to loosen up, subsequent fillings go very much like past cartos.

Ever buy brand new bath towels and notice they put too much sizing in that it is stiff and doesn't dry you very well? Then after you use it a few times and have it go through a wash or two...then it sucks up the water real easy? Well...the coolcarts are like that. They don't work well brand-spanking new, but just fine later, if you want to take the time to nurse them through the first use. Anyway, just my 2 cents.

Just as a note here, the WOW cartos seem to run much hotter than the generic cartos I have used. If I hit a WOW carto 3 or 4 times in 30 seconds or so, it gets pretty hot. Maybe, they are just using more liquid than most are used to using so they are drying out quicker? Also, since they run hotter, they probably continue to evaporate liquid a little bit until they cool down so maybe it turns into a wicking issue with a hot carto.

I switch between a WOW carto and a CoolCart throughout the day. The WOW carto definitely uses more juice than the Coolcart does. But, that is the price you pay for a warmer vapor and bigger hit. I like to hit the WOW carto if I haven't vaped in an hour or so and I prefer the CoolCart if I am just sitting and puffing away frequently.

I top my WOW carto off frequently. On average, 5 to 10 drops every 3 to 5 hours and I have never had a burning taste. In comparison, the CoolCart only needs 10 to 15 drops at the end of the day.

Lately I've been using a different refilling method for new and freshly cleaned Cartos. In the past it was drip, spin, drip, wipe...done. Now I drip, spin, then place a condom halfway on the batt end drip again liberally until juice fills the condom through the batt hole. Remove that condom and replace it with another placed halfway on, and squeeze the residual juice back in. I repeat this 1 or 2 more times depending on the polyfill absorption and wipe, then I let the carto sit for 5-10 minutes.

This process is a little more involved but it does get rid of that disappointing burnt taste when you first vape a carto. If I am still left with a lot of excess juice I just pop the cap of the bottle and drip it back in.

BTW....I decided to sacrifice a coolcart and take it apart. There was enough filler in there to make a small pillow...but it was packed into half a carto.

LOL! :)

I've had a few of these as well! Seems like they work OK with the very thin, clear juices, anything slightly viscous or darkly colored gums them up and they don't wick well and tend to char quickly.

Generally, I just chunk them if they aren't working well after a few tries...

What other cartos are compatible with the VK XL batts? I don't own one but was looking to buy as a gift for BFF. She doesn't know anything about vaping and I want to get her something that works without getting her an extra screwdriver.

Fed up with the whole carto thing, I've recently starting dripping. I just got a 901 atty and a nice anodized aluminum drip tip - and it's working way better than cartos...except that I have to drip more frequently, but at least I'm not getting the burnt wick taste...
