it is possible to get the wire from a regular DIY shop?

Pretty sure that Kanthal resistance wire was around long before vaping for use in electronics applications. So I'm going to say that Temco Kanthal wire is fine regardless of where it is bought.

I will add that, much like anything else in the vaping realm, you might need to consider the origin of your stuff. For example - I am not comfortable vaping with anything copper if I don't know exactly where it is made and the content of the material - which means that I don't vape copper. Likewise, I would probably only vape Temco wire bought at a hardware store. Not sure if that makes a difference but it makes me more comfortable.

You may be able to import Kanthal with no problems since it is used in other applications. But since I am in the USA I don't have any personal experience or know if anyone in SG has had problems importing Kanthal wire.

I think there are links to SG shippers in the above website.

the price is sky high over there and i do not have any equipment when i am in sg. :)
