Twist a corner of napkin or paper towel and dry the center/air tube/drip tip occasionally, make it a habit when you remove the tank from base to fill.

Sometimes when it is time to replace the head/coil they over saturate / flood, the excess liquid will come up through the air tube, other times they will give off, odd funky or burnt tastes.
Head = coil & wicking material in a replaceable one piece unit.

All delivery devices require routine maintenance, you may need to dry the drip tip / center / air tube more frequently than just when refilling to prevent the condensation in the air tube from ending up in your mouth.

The CLK is not a tank, it's a battery... so we need more information.

Anyway... most tanks will suffer from some liquid going to the drip tip when you fill it up (it's upside down...)

I take the filling moment as a chance to wipe inside the drip tip before re-vaping.

Obviously, if you have the tank that comes with the CLK kit (guessing) then you won't have that available to you.

Thanks for the replies. I have followed your instructions (Topwater Elivis) and it is now working perfectly. Thank you very much! I did have some problems initially (when I pressed the button, most of the time nothing came through when inhaling) but since then I took it apart and put it back together again and it now works fine.

Thanks again, and yes djsvapour - it was the tank that came with the CLK kit (that's the one i'm using)

The i clear 16d that comes in the kit is a bdc replaceable head clearo, you certainly can dry the center tube & drip tip with twisted napkin, paper towel or absorbent material of some sort.
You can... in the style of Kanger mini Protank 1.
I remember that technique... :)

The mini Protank 1 (and 2) could be my go to tanks in a few months from now. I got really good at rebuilding those tiny little coils.

Another problem as I described earlier has come back - when I press the button on the itaste clk, the battery lights up but nothing else seems to happen, and it's only air when I inhale. Is the battery short-circuiting? I am worried that it could be liquid touching the battery?

I suspect that is your tank is not making contact with the 510 pin. Happens all the time with these sorts of combos.
If you are worried about liquid, unscrew the tank - look at the top of your battery and check it out. It'll be obvious.
A short circuit is unlikely and would result in a little disco light show, probably.

Gently lift/pry up the center pin in the 510 connection just a tiny bit.
Small flat blade screw driver/ paper clip/toothpick used gently.

Make sure the head is seated / tight into the base, sometimes the head will loosen when removing the tank from base.
It can also be a sign the coil inside the replaceable head is getting flaky.
They do need to replaced occasionally.
Keep the threads on both the battery & delivery device clean & dry.

At some point most likely you will want to upgrade your delivery device(s).
There are dozens to chose from, any with 510 or ego threads will work with your batteries as long as it offers a choice of replacement heads with resistance's above 1.4ishΩ.
