Don't know if things have changed but when the Vamo first came out word was the black chrome wore rapidly. The brass is showing through on my regular chrome V1 in several spots.

Well the good thing is it will only be an extension tube so it won't be exposed to much wear. If it does I will do a vinyl wrap on it.

.....@Garemlin, have you tried any Aspire BDC's on your MVP, man they work great!

I have been using the Aspire BDC since way back when Smokeless Image started selling them. When I got the MVP I bought a few Vivi and Mini Novas and six ET-S. The thing I don't like, especially with the ET, is you can't run them any lower than 1/3 low without them flooding. I'm getting away from them now since everything I use take the PTII heads which I am rebuilding. Gonna sell off the BDC's soon.

Before I "discovered" CartoTanks I tried a number of different Aspires.

The main problem (for me) with the Aspire BDC's was that you can't dry-burn them (it destroys the rubber grommet)!

I was hoping I would get some answers at the e-cig and travel thread but didn't get any so I'm hoping you guys can chime on this

quick question i was searching for an answer here but i didn't find it unless i didn't look hard enough. my question is i'm flying in the end of the month and curious if the security in the airport would give me troubles if i bring my mvp with me. the thing looks like a detonator without a tank and i'm sure they can see the battery when they run it in their x-ray machine. should i leave my mvp at home or chance it with them. i don't want to buy cigarretes when i get a craving i'm so far ahead without the stinkies, i don't want to go back to them now..leaving chicago to kansas so no abroad trip going to my friend wedding

I just flew round trip from SFO to Orange County with my MVP/carto tank set up in my purse. No problem at all. Went thru the x-ray...nobody flinched...all good. Carto tank flooded due to the pressure change so I had to blow it out after landing but that was about it.

So I attempted to make my first coil for my vivi nova, Needless to say it was pretty darn tough with my arthritic hands. I did manage to wrap 5 wraps of 28 gauge on a single piece of 3mm wick. now I don't know the size of the little bitty screw driver to hold the wick against while I wraped, but I did get a reading of exactly 1.0 ohms. Is this going to be safe to use on my MPV?

I did do a quick dry burn and nothing shorted, So I am guessing that was a good thing, I just need a vote of confidence that I did something right...lol

It will fire but I really think you should stay above 1.2 Ohm for the mvp. I ran a .8 for a little bit just to do it but my battery got real warm and I don't think it liked it. Also, bellow ~1.2 we don't have the voltage to gain any more wattage.

But, 'grats on getting one made! :)

Ok Hot battery is all I needed to hear, I will not run this one. It was my first build to see if the fingers were going to let me even wrap the tiny wire...When I have more time I'm going to see if I can get more wraps. maybe even try to make Rips little micro coil. with the cotton filler.

Sue this is nine pages but there are ideas for making or buying a tool to help winding tight coils. Mine aren't so tight but they work.

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/tips-tricks/494533-homemade-coil-wrapping-tool.html

I bought a cheap RDA and have used it to mount a fresh made coil, fire till it glows, then release the power and squeeze the coil with tweezers to compress the coils.

This coil calculator will give you an idea of how many wraps but be aware that clearo assemblies usually take less wraps than this guide. Fake the number for leg length to get close to your actual outcome and that will help in the future with different gauges and diameters. There are other tabs and the Battery Drain one gives you the amp load so you can see if your battery has enough room to spare.

I fly regularly with multiple mods, including my MVP2. What I usually do is to attach a clearomizer to it and put it inside my liquid baggy with a couple of bottles of juice. Never had security even ask about it.

Of course once I am through security I remove the clearo and reattach my dripper. I never actually use clearos when I am flying as they leak like crazy due to the pressure changes.

Uncle Arthur visits me regularly (see the pinky in my avitar pict,) but I can get one made. My problem now is I can't see that dang little wire!

I use a sewing needle to support the wick while wrapping. Even a jewelers screw driver is quite a bit bigger in diameter than a needle. This could make the wrap a little looser. Also, bigger wire = less wraps and easier to see/work with.

Best of luck and keep us informed!

Ya, um, lets not bring up the fact I had trouble seeing the wire....

For those who rebuild EVOD/Protank style heads, Lightning Vapes now carries the parts! Either the whole head assembly (minus wick and wire), top post, silicon top cap, resistance insulator (in either rubber or silicon), and the bottom positive pin. You know all those little parts that get lost or disappear down the sink?

Sorry to hear your carto leaked but glad to know it is not just clearos and tanks that do it. I debated taking some old prescription bottles and putting my Aspire tanks (worse offenders) in them for the trip over the top and see how they are after.

Yeah...I had actually thought about putting my IBTanked in it's "thingy"/pill bottle for the flight anticipating the flooding but just didn't. I definitely will next time and see if that helps.
