I'm sorry.. I meant which ohm meter, and does that have a movable center post?

I ask, 'cause I just got in some coil heads for my CE5+'s and they read really really inconsistent on my MVP due to having a movable center pin. I have an Ominitester coming in, so will see if they are the same on it..

Could also just be a bad ohmmeter..

Its the sigelie ohm meter, the one you can use with USB. The connection doesn't have a movable pin. I think its probably bad. I'll contact the vendor.

You guys should just get a DMM. They are inexpensive (less than the dedicated 510 meters) and you can do things like evaluate your coils before you even insert them. The meter has a lot of other uses as well like checking the voltage on a 186xx if you ever get in to mechs. or to figure out if it is the light bulb or the switch that isn't working properly on that lamp in the living room.

My $.02

I have a DMM just not quite sure how to use it. Always stayed away from electricity for the most part. Could you tell which DMM ohm setting I should use to check coils beforehand!?

The setting at 6:30 - 200 Ohm.

Touch your leads together first to let the meter zero out, or, if it doesnt have a 'zero' function, it'll at least show you what resistance your leads have and you can subtract that from your coil's reading. IE, if you touch the leads and the reading settles on 0.02, you would subtract .02 from whatever reading the coil is. (1.82 would be 1.82-.02=1.8 ohms)

Right on thank you sir!

I should stay out of the threads when people ask what PV should I get. I read through and inevitably someone will suggest an MVP 2 and then a Prothingy owner will take a dump on them.

Why can't all us Vapers just get along!

Just remind them how overpriced they are for VV only...

That's the funny part Midnite, they just get even MORE uppity if you tell them that. I have no problem with Prothingy owners, but if you suggest ANY other device to a newbie, they take it as a knock on their device.

Vape what you like, but don't tell others that your device is best...too subjective a topic!

Because it's the internet and everyone's opinion is right according to them. Try visiting a political forum...this place is a breeze! LOL

Hey Capt. which one would you recommend for cheap cause that's me? I read somewhere that a digital multi meter would not read sub ohm's is that not true? Thanks in advance
Dano :vapor:

I got a cheapo from harbor freight. To be honest, I don't know how low it will go. Never tried.

Hmmm, maybe I should design a vape bra!!!

I could make use of vape underpants. They'd need a 36-hour battery, a 30 ml reservoir and a hose that you could pull up through your shirt. This could probably be cobbled together with spare parts from a retirement home.

There you go:

Connect the black test lead to the jack marked "Common" or "-"; connect the red test lead to the jack marked with the Ω (Ohm symbol) or letter "R" near it.

To check the resistance of your atomizers:

1. Turn your multimeter on and select the lowest Ohms setting, usually 200Ω.

2. Look at the display; the left side of the screen should display number 1.

3. First, test the resistance of your leads. Touch to two leads together, firmly, and wait for numbers to stabilize. On the right side of the screen, you should see a number between 0.0 and 0.4, or so. This is the resistance of your leads. Remember that number.

4. Now, to test your atty. Position your carto firmly on your desk; you don't want it to slip and slide all over the place. Touch one lead to the hole in the center of the atty and the other lead to the threads. Again read the display after the numbers have stabilized.

5. Subtract the resistance of your leads (#3) from the resistance of your atty(#4). This is the resistance of your atomizer.

This process takes some getting used to. Steady hand helps. Just keep practicing and you'll figure it out.

There are many tutorials on Youtube--watch them if you're a visual learner:

I like this one by GeekGirlVaper:

If you only want to check the resistance of your atomizers, you may want to consider buying this Atomizer and Cartomizer Ohm Meter--a very nifty, albeit single use, device:

1342887452113-981768337.jpeg

It can be used with all native 510 and 901/808 connectors; extensions or adapters are needed to test other atomizers (including eGo-threaded heads, which require a 510>eGo adapter). Many vendors carry them, including Smoktech, MadVapes, IndyVaporShop and others.

If you own an APV that checks the resistance of your atomizers, like MVP, Zmax, eVic or ProVari, you don't even need a multimeter.

Quality control for the product definitely needs to improve. The front mounted tank/bladder leaked twice leading to some embarrassing scenes in public places. However when the rear mounted battery vented...
