I have read several posts and just get more confused I know everybody has their own opinions. I just want a good quality battery that is safe any advice would be appreciated thanks in advance

For the money, the Sony VTC4's are hard to beat.

Sony 18650VTC4 2000MAH 30AMP Battery - Eciggity

Good battery, high amperage, etc. I run 3 of them across my SVD and Nemesis and they work perfectly.

Though the VTC4 is a nice battery, it is a high amp drain battery, a lot of regulated mods like Provari's, Evics, and SVD, etc, that high burst drain from the high output batteries is more likely to fry a circuit board so I'd suggest keeping those VTC4s for your Nemesis that doesn't have any chips in it, a good Panasonic, AW IMR, Samsung (Purple one not the new high drain one), Efest, Ultrafires, or Kamry batteries being most are 5 amp continuous drain and an SVD and such have 5 amp limit on their switch and circuit board anyway, use a low drain battery in them instead. jmho, but I can't tell you how many times I've seen fried Evic or SVD due to somone running an MNKE or Sony high drain in them.

So before I asked the experts I ordered Two Panasonic NCR18650B 3.7V 3400mAh Rechargeable Li-ion Batteries QTY 2
This and UltraFire 18350 3.7V 1200mAh Rechargeable Batteries Battery (Pair) nobody mentioned these should I cancel and order one of your suggestions? I also have a Evic, sentinel mechanical, and a lavatube will these work for any of the above? Seems everybody wanted me to quit for Christmas lots of gifts.

I've never had an issue with the VTC4 and the SVD and many people recommend it right next to the other higher drain batteries across the forum. I've used them for the past 3 months pretty much non stop, 2 batteries a day, without issue and without any heating up or potential to fry the circuits.

This is based on chain vaping quite often throughout the day as well. If I thought it was going to damage my SVD, or any other regulated or unregulated mod, I wouldn't be using them :).

This is just flat wrong on every point, misstating every safety and battery / PV-mod limiting factor.

A regulated mod that boosts voltage over the 3.7 volts produced by the standard Li-ion battery is done by increasing the amperage draw from the battery. They ALL require High-Drain batteries to provide the necessary amps to provide additional volts. The maximum permissible amperage draw that a battery is rated for has NO EFFECT on how many amps are actually drawn by the electronics. The higher amp rating in a high drain battery is your SAFETY MARGIN.

Having a high amperage rating has no more effect on the amps drawn that a larger gas tank in your car would effect your gas mileage. You may go further between fill-ups but the MPG remains the same.

Stick with the batteries recommended by Glenn_K (10A or greater)

I also have 2 of the Panasonic NCR18650B 3400's and use them in an SVD. When chain vaping at 5-6 watts they do get warm. Mine are the flat top ones and the positive contact in the SVD is so small it dented the top of these. I also have flat top EH IMR 18650 and they do not show a dent. You can clearly see the different battery tops in photo's. The EH is much sturdier.

So either live with the base a little loose or dent the Panasonic. These are my first Panasonic, and last. But they work fine and great longevity.

The NCR18650B are the exact wrong battery for a regulated mod, they are a protected battery, low drain with a Max. Discharge rate: 2C (6.8A) The Panasonic NCR18650PF are recommended, high drain, hybrid.

If your batteries are getting warm you are over stressing them, and if they are dented, they are dangerous!! Denting can create changes in the crystalline structure of the chemicals contained in the battery, and can cause them to no longer be properly contained. That is they could vent hot gas and flame, never use a dented battery, for the cost of a new one, your safety isn't worth it.

Yeah, I should have added that I don't use them. Sorry about that. Of course one wouldn't use them so I never thought to say it. I believe they got warm because of the dent, which is how I found it. Inspection after it got warm.

Geez! re-reading first post does sound like I am using them. Was just thinking about the issue and typing.

OK, no more posting until I have more coffee.

The Panasonics are fine. I would ditch the Ultrafire. Any of the batteries with "fire" in the name pretty much suck. I use Efest myself, but I will be getting some Panasonics and some AW in the future. I have 4 Efest 18650 2k maH V1's in rotation. I also 2 Efest 18350 800maH V2's in my rotation. Myself, I always buy batteries as pairs, and dedicate each pair to it's own mod. Additionaly, I use a sharpie and write the date I started using the batteries, and number them so i can easily keep track of their life and which goes to which MOD. I'm bit OCD, so this is a little overkill, but the dating the batteries is a good idea so you don't have to guess how old they are as you aquire them. It has been said, it's best to replace the batteries every year or so. Now that depends on your usage. High usage I would agree. I'm talking daily charges, to every other day charges. Now if your only cycling a battery once a week, I could see them safely being used for longer. Your pattern of usage will dictate that.

Check out the battery links in this thread. It should give you a good understanding, as well as let you make a good informed decision.

They got dented BECAUSE they are protected batteries. They contain an extra circuit board on top of the battery which makes them a few mm longer than an IMR - LiMn safe chemistry battery....:)

A NCR18650B would be fine for a single battery mech mod with a fuse and a coil in the 2.5Ω to 3.0Ω range. Or in a dual battery mod that used two 18650 in PARALLEL configuration, again with fuses to protect youself.

My town has a bi-annual haz-mat disposal for free so it took me a while to find them in the garage, but here are pics.

This is a Panasonic 18650B 3400mah unprotected. Dented by positive contact in SVD.
